Forums - Nintendo - Did Tri Force Heroes Bomb?

I was wondering what the current status was of Tri Force Heroes' sales. I saw that the October NPD showed 83k, and in Japan it sold like 55% of it's initial shipment. VGC shows current sales at .65M, but is that right? Seems overtracked to me. Anyway, now that the holiday season is over, what is the current state of this game? Did it bomb big time? Were sales not expected to be good in the first place? I'm just curious because it seems like this game is getting 0 attention these days.

I don't think Nintendo expected this to become a million seller soon anyway. It is what it is, a Zelda game to help their lineup during a week year. But one thing is sure, there is a lot of Zelda fatigue around. They are using the IP too much, after Zelda U, they better just let the franchise rest until the next big mainline Zelda.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Zelda fatigue?^ We never see Zelda. Besides on the 3DS it is non existent. Sure we got some remakes of the old games, but that is it. Skyward Sword was already nearly 5 years ago! Wind waker remake and Twighlight remake does not count. Plus it is year 30!

As for this sales, it is a failure if it has not come close to a link between worlds sales. The question is, if they are so backward with what is good and what we want with zelda as we have seen with Triforce heroes, what should we expect from Zelda U?

=/

Anyway, on topic, it'd be difficult for a game like this to bomb. I can't imagine the sales expectations were anything close to a million units; probably more along the lines of 500K. It'd be tough for that to bomb unless flat out nobody bought it.

Remakes certainly count towards franchise fatigue....

As a sequel to four swords I think they didn't expect it to sell well in the first place, plus re-using the engine from A Link Between Worlds saved them a lot of money so I wouldn't even bother, in the end the game'll sell more than 1M lifetime and Nintendo will get a decent profit out of it...

How? They are just throwing games in there for us to play. Nothing is new. We are not getting Mario tennis, golf, new super mario bros, every mario sent to VC, mario world, mario land, MArio , nario, mario olympics...mario , mario, mario, wario, luigi, mario kart, super smash with mario, mario.....

We got some fillers of old games, which you can treat as eshop games other than they are sent to retail. Besides that, we have had one real Zelda game....nearly 5 years ago.

MARIO!!!

It's been a long enough time for Wind Waker that for some it is a new game.  Saying that they are just throwing games in there for us to play actually works against your point of it not being franchise fatigue.

Also, pointing out one franchise that fatigues does not disqualify another from experiencing it as well.

I can never grow tired of Zelda!

Nah, it's average/mediocre sales.
