Well, I'm sure Sony has a lot of things planned with 3rd parties, and they could always showcase new VR games to counter the NX-ZeldaU hype. Also, Nintendo still needs to create hype for the NX outside of dedicated videogame forums.

VR is probably going to be amazing and I'm pumped for it.  But there's nothing more horrible then a VR demonstration during a live press conference.  I don't think that more VR demo's is the answer.  Nothing will compete for media coverage with Nintendo this e3 for obvious reasons but Sony and Microsoft can still do a wonderfull job by keeping gamers excited for their respective platforms with great exclusive content. I see no reason why each of the big 3 won't have a great e3.

So you think nintendo will win this year's E3 by default by showing the NX? Perhaps you should rephrase the question to "What do you think it will take for any of the big 3 to win this year's E3?"

You do realize that only nintendo fans are really that interested in it at this point? Because no one within the gaming world even really knows what it really is so the only people who could be hyped for an unknown nintendo device are nintendo fans. It's not like there's a pile of average consumers or casuals piling over each other to speculate about it on forums or with friends. Core gamers are pretty busy with this gen's consoles and we haven't even hit the peak yet.

These threads seem to prove the point that Nintendo fans secretly cant wait for the Wii U to be replaced I don't hear Playstation or Xbox fans constantly asking about the PS5 or X2. People really need to be happy with what they have. If they're really so desperate for something new there are other platforms available to them besides just Nintendo.

I'm hoping the NX reveal is better than the Wii U reveal. Jesus that was embarrassing. And given Nintendo's recent history I wouldnt put it past them to pull something similar. Then again there really is no "winner" to E3. Is there? I mean, I don't pay careful attention but do they announce who won?

Well, to be honest NX is the only thing keeping these gaming forums alive, lol. Nothing else is really all that exciting. I think for the past month this websites biggest threads (as far as responses) have been about The Force Awakens.

As far as whether or not if they "announce" who won, the people at E3 don't, but boy the media sure does.

Sony: "299"

It would sell a lot of consoles, but would be a pretty lame "win". Wasn't it that price over the holidays anyways? Doubt it would create much media buzz or generate much discussion.

If Nintendo comes out at E3 and announces the NX with a true 3D Mario Sequel, Zelda Wii U Port, and a new Metroid Game it'll blow everyone's mind. Microsoft's E3 format the past two years has been perfect, with all of the nonstop game talk and Sony's was great last year with all of the surprise announcements. I wish Sony would work on their presentation more and I expect their big announcement this year will be whatever game Sony Bend is working on and maybe a new God of War.

They don't even really need to do that. They just need the NX to be appealing, Zelda Wii U to look and play amazing (pretty much a given) with some sort of interesting mechanic that changes the way we approach the game (could be done as well as Nintendo saying this is what they are going for), and a Pokemon NX game with at least a great gym creator feature, badge creator, and support online multiplayer where you can add friends to be in your league to fight in other leagues.

Yeah, even if VR is somehow the greatest thing to happen to videogames since Nintendo, it won't catch on with a VR press conference presentation.

They may as well pull a Sony E3 2014 and not really do much of anything. LoZ and NX, let's face it nothing is going to beat that combination. It's not just because I'm a Nintendo fan either. They have shown nothing of LoZ Wii U, so it isn't going to have that same feeling as more Uncharted 4 news, where yes it's exciting but we already know a LOT about the game. Halo 5 is already released, so obviously Halo isn't going to be a factor. Add in that we will more than likely see the LoZ tech demo for NX, which is always exciting.

Then just the NX in general. I mean what has had more threads created ever? There is so much speculation, hope, and tension that has been going on since it was talked about that I literally can't think of anything that has gotten more media attention ever. Not even their move to mobile or their deal with Universal Studios.

So is their anything the other two can do? Or should they more just go and please their fanbase but hold back a few huge titles for a later event where it won't get outshined?

Starting with such an assumption is strange and will lead to an even stranger thread. Going to read now but my expectations are very low.

It depends on the fanbase.

Nintendo and Xbox fanbases mostly don't care about new IP's, they could see as winner their respective conferences because of a new Mario 3D or a new Halo game.

For Playstation fans it goes both ways. Maybe they could unveil another Horizon (New IP), maybe they could unveil a new Crash, it is not that easy to predict. The fanbase is more varied on the Playstation side.

And right on the first page generalizations! Holy shit, this is going to be amazing

Even funnier, the thread is mentioning "old" IPs from Sony being a counter factor. Brilliant!

Thanks for the thread, best wishes for 2016 to everyone!

My personal favorite counter points are the "flagship titles and new consoles aren't a big deal if it's Nintendo". It's keeping me entertained.

If both Sony and MS would announce slim versions of the PS4 and X1 with a slightly lower price point at E3 it would trump Nintendo unveiling a new console.
