I fully expected Nintendo to announce two proper Metroid games (one 2D and one 3D) this year, and they didn't deliver. Now, I don't have any more expectations.

But I do hope so.

Actually I think that we already had proper Metroid games for Wii U/3DS but Nintendo moved project for NX.

Nintendo announced SMTxFE, XCX, Zelda Wii U, and Yarn Yoshi three years before they were ready to be released. Anything's possible. Doesn't mean it's coming out anytime in the near future.

Nintendo usually don't do things like that, those anncuments were all in same direct and they were product of panic mode when they realised that Wii U isn't selling good at all.

I am pretty sure we will have announcement of new Metroid Prime at E3.

You said that about this year's E3 too, and if I recall correctly, E3 2014 as well.

All true but that was before this years E3 when I realised that NX actually coming in 2016. and not in 2017. as I thought before this years E3. Now I think after they decided to launch NX next year they moved some Wii U projects to NX, I think Metroid is one of those projects and that will sell announced at E3 in 30h anniversary of Metroid.

Tanabe said in June this year that they were not working on one, and that if they started now, it would take 3 years to make, so don't expect anything soon.

Nintendo did not announce not single game for NX yet, so you cant relly except around this years E3 where WiiU and 3DS were in focus they will say, "we are working on Metroid for NX".

He said "if we started now" and "I haven't been able to collect a team or the resources to do it". The implication is clear, Metroid was not in production as of June, and even if it started this year, it wouldn't be out until 2018.

Again they will not said if the working on Metroid, thats a point. "if we started now" and "I haven't been able to collect a team or the resources to do it" , basically means development of Metroid is long and expensive and it wont come on 3DS/Wii U. Maybe it wouldn't come until 2018 (but I think end of 2017. launch could be possible), but I expecting announcement of new Metroid Prime on E3.

At that point it was selling well. It was the January after launch, and the Wii U had a strong launch. They weren't panicing at all.
