Again they will not said if the working on Metroid, thats a point. "if we started now" and "I haven't been able to collect a team or the resources to do it" , basically means development of Metroid is long and expensive and it wont come on 3DS/Wii U. Maybe it wouldn't come until 2018 (but I think end of 2017. launch could be possible), but I expecting announcement of new Metroid Prime on E3.

This is wishful thinking.
