Actually no. You got it backwards. This game started off as a new Super Mario game. They wanted to try something different for the next Mario game. The deal with Fuji TV for Doki Doki Panic happened during development and that's when they added the Doki Doki characters.

So? Captain told started off as a Zelda spin off game, it's final release wasn't same thing with Doki Doki Panic, it was released as a non Mario game which was reskined in the west because NOA thought LL would discourage people. Doesn't change that it's technically not a Mario game either way.

Excellent game, deserved a sequel.
Still it's entirely different from other Mario games.

May the fires of hell burn it down to ashesh... I remember it was very difficult and frustrating... But it gave Mario franchise a lot of material, like the shy guys, the way luigi and the princess leaps (like in smash games) grabbing things, toad, doors, bombs, and the list goes on...

Never liked it. I never owned a copy of the game. It felt wrong. Regardless how most of the stuff is Retconned into the series. I actually do only doki doki panic.

My opinion..it was like a dream.

Thank you for the spoiler.

My bad. I considered covering it with the Spoiler tag, but I thought it would be futile since it was a 27 year old game.

I forgive you. Maybe. I'm sorry but I need to finish it to asses the damage. :P

The main reason game sucks is that you can't save your progress EVER! You have to finish it in one run.

I played it on a PC emulator the second time and you could assign hotkeys to save your progress. One click during a level playthourgh and you die? No worries, just click that hotkey again and you continue playing it exactly where you left off. xD I didn't use it much though, only when I was running out of lives or was trying to make some stupid jump.

Screw toad. Princess peach was God in that game! Levitation always felt like I was cheating without a game genie.

The way she glides and doesn't straight down back to the ground was really convenient.

I actually think it's better than both the original and Lost Levels!

Lost Levels was like Super Mario Bros 1.5. Not a bad thing at all. :D

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

Never beat the game...but it was fun as I remember. Peach's flight was cool. And the magic carpets. A whole new world!

It was fun. However, as a child I prefered Super Mario Bros 3.

That game was amazing. Insanely hard, but still amazing.

I've played it on Super Mario All-Stars for SNES when I was like 7 years old. Amazing game.

It's different from the rest of the series? Who cares?

It's a classic even if it wasnt a true Mario game
