Ouch.

Ah! So close. Almost matched Avatar's initial run, just a couple more million. And then a day or two for it's lifetime gross. A tad bigger drop than I hoped for domestically, too bad it didn't reach 100m in it's third weekend. International was a bit better again as far as I can see.

Why ouch? The estimates have it as the highest grossing third weekend by almost 20 million.

It's still very much on a record breaking pace setting new reccords and moving up the charts pretty much daily.

Looking into how January will be a slow month for competition against Star Wars I see the moving ending it's run with 950m by the end of the month January (in the US. I don't know if the movie will be playing any longer, usually they are but Star Wars has been super front loaded, might even hit 1b in the US).

Worldwide I'm less optimistic than I was before. I see it hitting 1b - 1.1b without China. This will mean the movie will surely hit 2b without China and with China (I have no idea how high it will get and how much hype there is) around 2.25b making it the second highest grossing movie ever.

However we still have to see the lifespan of the theatrical run of the movie. It might be longer than end January. But Surpassing Avatar international... I'm not sure anymore

60 is a failing grade.

Will probably need two more days to pass Avatar's grand total domestically. Should be fourth highest grossing movie world wide with Mondays numbers and third highest by the end of the week.

This Box office run is nuts, absolutely nuts.

Anyone know what Avatar made on its original release so we can do a more like to like comparison?

Zoe Zaldana for one already stated she is impressed with the script and said it is highly emotional. And Cameron mentioned there ARE lots of things that are going to happen. I for one cannot wait!!!!
