Forums - Gaming - Are Physical copies running out faster than they did last gen or even PS2 era?

I just got recentley Toukiden Kiwami for PS4, i got it for 20€ from a local retailer. I ussually only order from the internet but i knew this particular was on par with Amazon.de prices from what remember last time visiting. But looking now at Amazon.de the game is 40€ new and only like 6 offers, i remember this being 19€ not too long ago wtf. And for a lot of other games i dont see these price decreases like in last gen.

We see all kinds of price increases for physical copies latley even if the game is launched like with devils third in NA.

I think digital gaming is playing a role in it but i have the feel these publishers try to push us to buy digital. Tell me what you think what you have noticed in your area?

Well, publishers want to control the market better, so they pushing digital by releasing less retail copies makes some sense. Also, less retail copies means less risk of retail leftovers that sell for way less of their intended price.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

More like more niche games are getting physical releases, and due to their very nature, niche games will have a small print run.

That would be true, if the most common physical games had issue. Like Madden. It's usual just small/niche games that get this issue. It's more signaling the publisher has very little faith in the niche product.

Definitely agree with you. I like it.

While publishers are obviously pushing for digital, this is simply the case of a niche game being niche.

I will pay more for a physical copy, than i will for a digital copy.

It sold 40k in europe, they could easily reprint the copies for a second batch
