Forums - Sony - PlayStation Exec Defends PS2-on-PS4 Price Points

I honestly don't see the issue with these prices but that may be because I don't care that much about a game's age. I've happily shelled out €7 for GBA titles because I think games like M&L Superstar Saga, Aria of Sorrow and Advance Wars are great games well worth the asking price. €10 for Donkey Kong 64 and Super Mario 64? Ka-ching. €10, that's about what some current gen games have cost me and if I have any regrets it's not because of those N64 titles.

If I had a PS4 I'd pay €15 for Final Fantasy XII and Valkyrie Profile 2 without blinking.

Yeah...I was hoping the prices would be cheaper, but people are just being babies about this.

For one, nobody owes you the PS2 games on the PS4 just because you may have bought a few of them more than a decade ago. If you bought a movie on DVD you didn't go demand the Blu Ray for free when that came out. You bought the game for the PS2, so play it on your PS2.

Secondly, these aren't just straight ports. These are a higher resolution, higher frame rate ports with added features and functionality. As Yoshida said, those games need to be updated and go though QA and be re-licensed. To expect Sony to take a loss on each game they add is just stupid.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

It's not about buying old games for 10€ or 15€, it's about having to pay for the same game twice or, if you're even more loyal to the company, three times.

As much as i love some of the PS2 games they're releasing, i just can't see spending more than $5 on most of them.

Anyway if people so poor they can't afford a 15$ they should change hobby and anyway nobody force them to buy anything, if nobody buy they will lower price, if this not lower, this mean enough ppl think this worth..

At end of days complain change nothing, like all DLC, or patch days 1, since people don't vote with their money !

Because people only have one PS2 game.

@SONY Considering people have made a PS2 emulator without proper console documentation and distributed it for free, and also considering that your competition does it for free with regards to 7th generation games, I am not seeing it. You would still cover costs with new purchases.  All this does I'd put people off from buying at all because PS5 will probably need you to buy the games a fourth time. The point of adding emulation to your platform is to make the platform more appealing overall. I understand you are selling PS4s fine without it, but don't let arrogance take you back the way of the PS3.

Yeah...I really don't get that logic. You're buying it three times for three different systems.

he PS3.

So...let me see if I get this straight: I can now play XBox Original games on an XBox One?

Also...can I play N64 games that I own on a Wii U?

That people want things for free is no surprise.  That people feel entitled to things for free is kind of sad.

Which of those games runs at 60 fps?

Sony charged similar prices on ps3 last gen and didn't see many complains. The only issue I have with this is for those who already bought those games on ps3 and have to buy it again.
