Why would you watch the entire campaign of a game you don't like? Why waste so many hours?

It was horrible to play, but it was kind of morbidly interesting to watch, in the same way as one of those utterly awful movies like The Room where you watch them just to laugh and facepalm at how shit they are.

Well, there you go. That is a form of enjoyment.

Only from watching it, which removes the frustration of the controls and framerate, and means I don't have to be as mentally and physically invested in it. Big difference between taking time out of my day to sit down and play through a frustrating game, and casually watching it on youtube while I write an article for work. By the same token, I can glean a morbid fascination from watching a car crash, but that doesn't mean I'd want to be in one.

Enjoyment is still enjoyment. Anyway, how did you find the multiplayer?

And I didn't gain any of that enjoyment from actually playing it, only from casually watching it without investment or involvement.

I didn't play the multiplayer, I have no interest in online multiplayer.

You are still admiting that a bit of enjoyment can be had even if only in a very specific way. Some games just work better as movies than games. People that don't mind the "problems" wil be able to enjoy the good part(s/?). Of course, the multi will be available for free in steam soon. We will be able to easily see how much of the "positive miiverse movement" is due to buyers remorse.

Almost every game, no matter how terrible, has some positive elements. Even Amiibo Festival, for instance, has cute graphics. Even Sonic Boom has a few areas with nice art direction. In the case of Devil's Third, whatever morbid enjoyment I could glean from laughing at its crapness was crushed beneath the weight of all its flaws.

I may have rudely skipped reading the past 8 pages, but I DID want to admit something...

Part of why I skipped Devil's Third wasn't just because I had a gut feeling from early footage that it wasn't going to play too well (especially those of you who know I play modern games, and thus have experience with the feel of modern action/shooter games), but the other part was Itagaki himself.

I'm one of the people who is friends with him on Facebook, and reading his somewhat underhanded slights at defending his game basically turned me off entirely. It was almost as if he believed anyone who didn't like his game was some sort of moron. And naturally, a bunch of leg-humpers were on there praising him and his game well before they even had access to the game themselves. This just threw up a red-flag that reviewing this game would either be a sh!tstorm that a nobody-channel like mine wouldn't be able to weather, or an absolute waste of my time.

I realized it would have been both, and decided it best to not bother, lol
