I think clones should be relegated to palette swaps.

I don't know how anyone (let alone Sakurai) could top Smash 4 in terms of the roster.

Yeah, the clones are clones but we were already given a reason why they were there. They just became new spots for the roster to fill out when the game was close to completion before its initial release on 3DS and Wii U. Should they be tweaked out more? Hopefully.

Plus, we got some of the most iconic characters in gaming history to join the fight. Mega Man, Pac Man, Sonic, Ryu, Bayonetta, and Cloud fighting against Mario and the gang. Never in our wildest of dreams would this ever happened and it did.

Old and new generations of Nintendo characters (Game and Watch as the oldest, Corrin as the youngest).

It's gonna be hard to top to be honest with you and even getting rid of one character could be a bummer for a lot of fans. Whether it's Rosa, Lucina, Palutena, Little Mac, etc., there will be fans who will be upset, just like when Ice Climbers and Wolf were cut.

Get rid of the bulk of the FE characters lol they're waaay to many. I hope Cloud stays tho, as a PlayStation guy i tend to use him the most as well as most the multiplatform characters because i prefer them over ninty mascots.

Technically, FE could be more than eligible for six characters, especially out of a 58 character roster. FE has been around for 25 years (celebrating its anniversary last year), with 13 installments not including two remakes for the DS. Sure sales-wise, it's not a powerhouse, but with Awakening's emergence as well as Fates anticipated success worldwide, they probably deserved more than two. So Robin and Lucina were welcomed additions. Roy came back due to fan request most likely and Corrin was probably more for promotional reasons. The team were encouraging Sakurai to add him/her in due to their unique moveset.

PIKATCHU

Third party and DLC characters. This would also cleanse the ranks of the Fire Emblem Characters a bit. Bayonetta may avoid that fate though.

I just hope the Duck Hunt Dog doesn't get cut. Beating him to pulp feels so... rewarding

The only characters I see getting cut is Cloud, all the other DLC and 3rd party characters are most likely returning.

At least the clones, pacman, ryu, cloud, wii fit trainer, robin and corrin.

Sakurai has made it clear that he isn't big on ditching original movesets...
And even when he has removed characters with original movesets, there were reasons for it...
I could see him replacing characters but keeping the movesets; I actually thought he would do this with Ike for Smash 4...
