Forums - Sales - Pretty amazing that Xenoblade beat both new releases of Just Cause 3 and Rainbow Six this past week!

It's overtracked in the US, but undertracked in Europe ( in France at least), so that evens things out a bit.

Why is overtracked in US?Do you have a source? And its not undertracked in France. It did 40k in a bit less than 2 weeks. And the sales of the week just takes 2 days of release.Plus the sales for France has not been published yet in vgchartz

I was talking about Bayo 2 there.

Ohhhhhhhh my bad!

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

It's alright, I should have specified that I was talking about Bayo 2.

That's great, congrat on the success!
But as the game as huge and as critical acclaim as Xenoblade, some even considered as "THE best wii game of all times" i was expecting much higher sales tbh. Like around 350-400K.

VGC numbers literally mean nothing now days. Xeno blade could be easily undertracked or over tracked. same with just cause and rainbow six. lets wait for NPD sales. and other official numbers.

It's a JRPG in the US. A safe bet is about half of what's reported.

Those games are facing heavy competition from black ops 3 and Star Wars battlefront. The wii u on the other hand hasn't had a good release in months. Doesn't mean Xenoblade sold poorly, but it's not the kind of underdog story you're trying to make it be.

in terms of marketing and other varyting factors it is really impressive

Just Cause 3 and Rainbow Six have been talked about and frankly I expected better openings for them (despite the competition)

I'm pretty sure Xenoblade X would have comparable marketing to the other 2 games. It is after all Nintendo's only holiday hitter whereas Ubisoft had to also market the crap out of assassins creed syndicate.

Xenoblade X has also been talked alot because, once again, it is Nintendo's only big holiday release.

Not that Xeno X did poorly, just that it really shouldn't be measured against the other 2

I think its more that Just cause 3 seems to have floped. Wich is worrying because it had no DLC BS and Pre-order crap.
I do think Just cause will have good legs.

With that said, its not bad for Xenoblade X. Its around the ballpark of the original. It deserves so much more though.

yeah I'm particularly shocked about Just Cause 3, the series has a great reputation and this one looked pretty good in the previews. yikes :O I get the feeling maybe something that had to do with it that their developer isn't giant enough to compete with marketing likes of Call of Duty, Fallout, Battlefront, etc. so it just wasn't in the mind of some gamers; hopefully good word of mouth spurs consistent sales

My opinion is that people are getting sick of repetitive sandboxes and maybe were burned a few too many times. The reviews say that the sandbox is repeptitive and that was enough for me to stay away from it even though it looked interesting.

At lower prices, i'm sure it will sell alot more.
