Forums - Sony - PS Vita is 4 years old, let's celebrate life! AKA Vita is Dead, Long Live Vita!

Poor thing,my vita became an mp3 player and that's all.

It had a good launch line up but it was quickly abandonned by 3rd party and then by Sony

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

Probably my most played console these days, can't believe it's 4 years old tho, when you see what it's capable of alongside the "new" 3ds system.

Finished "Home" last night in bed with headphones... damn that OLED screen makes some of those horror games a real treat, same with stuff like Lone survivor or just the serene Thomas was alone.

Funny that the first screen of Home says to turn off the lights and use headphones...
first line of the manual "PLAY IN A WELL LIT ROOM OR YOUR EYES EXPLODE INTO GLASS SHARDS KILLING THOSE AROUND YOU" I might be paraphrasing but yeah, game tells you to play in the dark, manual says not to... wonder which I listened to. /mourn eyes.

Hardware wise, its the most impressive handheld I've ever used. When you hold it and play games on it, its shocking to see what it can do. Its too bad Sony made a few crucial mistakes with Vita. It really could and should have been something spectacular.

I had the Vita for like five months after launch but I've mostly used it this year because it's a nice little heaven outside of the so called triple A industry.

I adore handhelds, and I even appreciate that most of its library doesn't necessarily consist of exclusive games. I wouldn't have played the classic FF titles and some new indie games if they weren't playable on a handheld device.

I have my original OLED version of the VITA, and it's a nice piece of hardware. I don't have many games for it, but I've been steadily building my collection over the past recent months. Ironically, I'm leaning towards more gaming on my PSTV over the VITA. But the support from Japanese developers have made both the PSTV and VITA worth it.

I got my Vita a little over a year ago, initially exclusively to play Destiny via remote play. Now I find myself diving into all the wonderful rpgs available to the system. Hell, my Gamefly queue is over 50% Vita games at this point. Definitely a great handheld, especially for the jrpg scene.

A system that got so much right yet so much wrong. Absolutely love it though. May it live another 4 (in Japan)

The way things are going the Vita will go down for me as the greatest handheld system ever made. I play my almost daily and am very excited about 2016 and even onto 2017 prospects.

The Vita is the place I always wanted handhelds to reach. A big beautiful screen, four face buttons, d-pad and two analog sticks. Would like four shoulder buttons, but the front and back touch abilities help in that regard.

It also is the first handheld that felt cutting edge on graphics and had me impressed on multiple occasions. Once you see the resolution and clarity on the Vita, it is a bit jarring going back to other handhelds.

In terms of games the Vita has been amazing and feels like what I wanted the PS3 to be. Games such as Gravity Rush and Tearaway were the biggest surprises in gaming in recent years for me. Also, the Japanese support has been superb with several fantastic RPGs. Then you have the indie games which have been a nice way to fill out the library.

In terms of successor I don't think Sony will given failure in the west. I think the Vita is powerful enough to have a longer life cycle and still get Japanese third parties to support it. I could see playing on mine for years to come.

I hope it has a great day together with Wii U in dead console's heaven.
