The way things are going the Vita will go down for me as the greatest handheld system ever made. I play my almost daily and am very excited about 2016 and even onto 2017 prospects.
The Vita is the place I always wanted handhelds to reach. A big beautiful screen, four face buttons, d-pad and two analog sticks. Would like four shoulder buttons, but the front and back touch abilities help in that regard.
It also is the first handheld that felt cutting edge on graphics and had me impressed on multiple occasions. Once you see the resolution and clarity on the Vita, it is a bit jarring going back to other handhelds.
In terms of games the Vita has been amazing and feels like what I wanted the PS3 to be. Games such as Gravity Rush and Tearaway were the biggest surprises in gaming in recent years for me. Also, the Japanese support has been superb with several fantastic RPGs. Then you have the indie games which have been a nice way to fill out the library.
In terms of successor I don't think Sony will given failure in the west. I think the Vita is powerful enough to have a longer life cycle and still get Japanese third parties to support it. I could see playing on mine for years to come.
