These guys (Monolith) are very talented, I'd love to see them trying a traditional WRPG, or even an action game.

Same. Takahashi has said before that he sees Monolith's purpose as making the kind of games that Nintendo EAD proper can't/won't. (Smart man; he recognizes that they need to diversify even if the upper management refuse to see it)

They already made a sort of action game, Disaster: Day of Crisis. Good ideas, but overall only a mediocre (at best) game.

Please excuse my bad English.

Former gaming PC: i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Current gaming PC: R5-7600, 32GB RAM 6000MT/s (CL30) and a RX 9060XT 16GB

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

Playing XCX, its Western influences are very noticeable; a lot of the gear, vehicles, and interior design is strongly reminiscent of the Mass Effect games.

It gave me also a ME vibe. Can't wait to see his next game!

I'm pretty sure he is referring to his skill set, not trashing Nintendo :P

I mean, diversity really isn't the big problem at Nintendo when you look at their list of active IP, but not even the Zelda team have the level of experience with complex RPGs that Takahashi and his team do.

I didn't mean he was trashing Nintendo, more that he simply recognizes the need for variety.

I mean, there's nothing like XCX coming from EAD proper.

That's so bad. They have the talent to do great things.

Takahashi you traitor!

"I've Underestimated the Horse Power from Mario Kart 8, I'll Never Doubt the WiiU's Engine Again"

I actually enjoyed Fatal Frame 5 (very japanese) a lot more over XCX on my wii u. The real time combat is very generic and the text is so small its completley not optimized for console screen, i am not rating a book by its cover but in comparison to The Last Remnant (pc version best jrpg ever made) XCX is unwhelming and i have trouble getting into it.
Takahashi should rather patch the game to give an option for bigger text size instead running his mouth about japanese games but it seems he copied that too from western rpgs who have small and unoptimzed text size like the witcher 3 had for example...

Not sure I understand your meaning here. You mean to say it's bad that Takahashi thinks Monolith should make games unlike those of EAD?

On mobile vs. console, I am not sure if he realizes this, but the console industry in Europe has been on the decline for around 5 or 6 years now, and mobile is sharply rising.

I'm sure he realizes that, but the console industry in Japan has decreased a heck of a lot more.

He also said that Monolith Soft’s next project will look and feel “pretty different from this one”

This is interesting considering Xenoblade Chronicles X has strong hints for a sequel. Maybe we'll get a Xenosaga situation where each game is very much different, but they still continue the story.

I thought he meant a new IP.

Like I said, Xenoblade Chronicles X is heavily hinting direct sequels with a lot of the things the story didn't resolve. Unless they are making multiple games, I think he might be overstating the "difference."

They could also simply have a DLC/expension in store. Who knows.

But I wouldn't mind if they created an entirely new IP that doesn't revolve around the letter X. xD
