That's what you get when you advertise your products properly. Congrats!

I really doubt that Code Name: S.T.E.A.M would sell 1m in Japan only if they advertise it properly. :)

I mean the games being good and appealing means a lot too. But look at Bayo 2 and look at Splatoon. The good marketing made a huge difference.

Buy-Bayo-2-get-Bayo-1-free was bad marketing?

I know what you meant, but there is huge difference between Bayo 2 and Splatoon, Splatoon is mass appeal game on same level like Mario Kart and Smash Bros are, Bayo isn't nearly mass appeal like Splatoon. So basically Splatoon is not just great game but it has mass appeal like games that I mentione, and that's why they marketing so much, because Splatoon for Nintendo is becoming huge new IP that will be Nintendo shooter in way that Mario Kart is Nintendo racing game and Smash Bros Nintendo fighting game.

That was the greatest deal this generation and I was so happy I got it at launch.

Splatoon breaking a million in Japan is awesome! It is one of the few shooters to experience success there. Love the game and I even finally got the amiibo 3 pack on the way!

It has gone from the majority of people predicting it would bomb worse than Wonderful 101.....

Ummmm.... nooo.

Unless the majority of VGC consists of one user... The majority predicted it would do less than 1 million lifetime though. Use that instead, instead of your TW101 statement which is just wrong.

Like really, it irks me when people on VGC pretend like TW101 sales was what VGC expected, cause the only one who said that was Gergroy. Literally no one else.

Dude, do you even know what marketing is?

Marketing is letting people know your product exists and that's it's good.

What's the point on giving out Bayonetta 1 for free, if nobody knows that?

Splatoon got several TV commercials, demo stations on several malls and even huge events with famous people attending them.

THIS is marketing. And that's why Splatoon Splatoon is selling so well.

Splatoon is selling on first place because it's great game and has mass appeal similar to Mario Kart and Smash Bros, not just because marketing.

If that was true, then why Nintendo spent millions and millions on marketing the game?

This is part of the sucess of Splatoon, but with no marketing, it's very hard for a game to sell as well as Splatoon is selling.
