I don't actually understand how are they going to divide into multiple parts.

Is it going to be like VII-1,2,3,.... (you know, like X and XIII) or episodic parts, like Telltale games?

If episodic like Telltale games then I'm gonna be pissed.

Really? Have you even played the original? You know the one that was already sperated on 3 different discs? The one that seperated its story into multiple chunks. Probably not, or that wouldn't be an actual question.

Alot of games back in the PS1 days were separates into multiple discs. Its not an excuse.Gigantic games are all made to fit into one CD, like Witcher 3 and FF15 by the looks of it(they didnt say anything about splitting them up).And I think people wouldnt mind if the physical version had multiple discs.Would even be a nice "easter egg" to the original. The episodic aproach is more money related than sheer density of the game

Their breaking ff7 up is just a way for them to

1. Milk the franchise for more money. Instead of 1 game for $60, its say 4 games for $30 each.

2. Release parts at a quicker rate. Not have another ff15, waiting 15 years for the game to relase.  They can release part 1 in 2 years, part 2 in a notehr 2, ect.  Sure still i expect slow release, but not like wiating 15 years.

While I agree with #1 since milking a franchise is what any game developer does now a days if they have a chance.

#2 I only agree with slightly. Once they get the first game out it will more then likely be a yearly if now a semi-yearly release. The biggest part of making a game is making the engine and art, the rest is just scripting with doesn't take that much time. Once the first one is out the engine is done is out and you have art assets that are almost totally finished, with the exception of enviromental art and NPC's. So I don't see anything larger than a 12-month window between releases.

I think thats the idea, I mean no one was expecting to see anything about the game at all and all of a suden we got gameplay, aparently there are multiple studios involved in the project wich is speeding things quite a bit. The article says somethign about they not going to talk about online yet, wich begs the question "what fucking online ?" there better be no tacked on online crap feature on this game.

Yeah, it's surprising how fast they are working with this game. Would be cool if the first part wiil released next year. Also, there's going to be online to this..?

The article linked in the OP has as one of the buletpoints somethign about they not being ready to talk about online yet, wich is wierd and quite suspicious.

I'm starting to fear that the over world might be gone...

In its original form its most definetly gone, the game will feature an open world conecting the various reagions most likely. And theres almost 100% chance that the first part is all Midgard and ends when you leave.

You're probably right, and this sounds terrible.

I would imagine the first part is everything until they leave Midgar, that would make everyone excited for the open world exploration in the next part.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”
