Forums - Movies & TV - People are watching The Force Awakens... right now

The tweets coming out are saying better than the prequels, but no.3 overall (behind Empire and A New Hope).

Patton Oswald who absolutely savaged the prequels also liked The Force Awakens apparently.

So overall it's looking pretty good I'd say. Don't expect anything life altering but it seems like JJ has made at least a solid Star Wars movie and one that maybe won't polarize the fanbase nearly as much as the last three films.

Sounds like it's better than the prequels (not a huge shocker there) but not quite on par with Empire/ANH -- though I think A New Hope is ranked so high because of its impact for 1977, in some ways to me it's the weakest of the OT.

depends who you read impressions from. A few people place it Kinda equal with Jedi. A few people said they thought it might be the best yet, but want to let it sink in more before they solidify that. A few are putting right behind ESB.

No one, is putting it behind any of the PT.

My take? Existing fans will have a hard time putting it ahead of ESB and ANH because the impact those movies had on them as a child cant be replicated, TFA simply revisits for them (which is more that the PT ever did for them).

However, I think a majority of younger fan, and new fans that TFA will make will have no problem making it number 1.

To be fair when you wait so many years for something like this and go to the first screenings of it you are going to use some of that hype to gloss over some of the shit parts of the film, I'd say wait a couple of days for people to actually let it sink in, let the hype of it's mere existance as the 7th star wars movie get out of peoples systems and have them go back to watch it again.

When I first watched The Phantom Menace in the cinema when that launched in 1999 (christ that was 16 years ago, feelsold.jpg) I thought it was absolutely the best thing ever, just because of flashy CGI and NEW STAR WARS, but yeah once that faded away a lot of Phantom menaces cracks showed up pretty badly.

Would be great to have another movie in the series in the same levels of characters/story as the original trilogy, I can't wait to see if the hype is real.

Prepare your buttholes for spoilers,

I am so ready already:

That exists!?... Does it work? And is there a PC version?

I think the only PC version of this is to reach around the back of your machine and pull out the ethernet cable until you've seen the film.

Newbies will think it's the best ever, oldies will not. Shame really, youngsters will never think old classics are better.
