Forums - Nintendo - Developers are pushing the Wii U to its limits!

Yeah, I beg to differ.

I'm shocked at how many people are saying PC games are asthetically boring and how many Nintendo Fanboys are on the site.  Those Xenoblade Texture pop ins and 90% terrible shorelines.  These games have no anti-aliasing, terrible jaggies and look not even half as good as Witcher 3, but "the only difference between PS4 and Wii U graphics are resolution".

Alright, everyone. No Wii U game is as technically impressive as a AAA PS4 game. The hardware just makes that next to impossible. But that's not the point of this thread. The point is to discuss the impressive optimization efforts of Nintendo. The fact that we could even have this discussion with such a difference between the hardware displays just how impressive Nintendo's optimization skills are. It makes me wish even more that they had made the Wii U more powerful, and that we could have seen just what they were truly capable of.

I think it's normal for any and all consoles to improve over time and push their own limits. While the OP seems a tad bias, it is all subjective in the end. I read someone saying they think Mario Kart looks better than Watch Dogs Wii U and their only reason was "they would rather look at Mario Kart than Watch Dogs" ... huh? That doesn't change the fact that many older games do indeed look better. But it is improving (I guess?).

Im in the middle of playing Bayonetta 2 and that game doesent look great. Thats PS360 graphics and has significant frame dips on top of that.

Nintendo games have a great visual style but the scale of their games is small. I wouldnt say Mario Kart is as impressive as Forza 4 for example. And Wii U lacks games as impressive as GTAV.

This.  I don't see how developers are pushing Wii U to its limits when it can be argue that ps3/xb360 have games that looks similar or maybe better than Wii U games.

The Wii U is less powerful, so it's good to push the Wii U to it's limits

I agree with you, but I think why everyone is harping on the comparison is because the OP made it. When you say something along the lines of the Wii U's graphics looking as good as PS4 with some minor improvements, then be prepared to be flamed. I, myself, think the games look almost as good as PS4 games, but for the aesthetic flair and artistry, not because of Wii U's power. Which seems to be what the OP is saying because the entire argument was originally hinging on the fact that the Wii U's power is being fully utilized, because the developers are using it to its limits.

If these games look anywhere close to PS4s in terms of visuals, it's because of the art moreso than the tech. Get a really nice game on PS4 that marries it's tech and art well like Bloodborne or Infamous, and this comparison that the OP made becomes irrelevant.

Fast Facing Neo could pass as a ps4 game?

I think, you meant ps3.

Maybe you should see what a ps4 game looks like before making silly comments like these. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHQFODsdGDU

Sorry, but I have to disagree. FRN looks better than a PS3 game.  And before you say anything, I own both games (Drice Club and Fast Racing).  FRN is gorgeous. Of course, it's not as beautiful as PS4 game, but that doesn't mean that the graphics are last gen.

Well they really havent improved because black flag and watch dogs on wii u look better than all the games you mentioned.

I'd personally have to disagree. Plus, they don't run very well either.

Yes i agree with you OP^^
WiiU is holding up well graphically.

LOL I am pretty sure when they said "with a resolution upgrade it could pass as a ps4/one game" they didn't mean a AAA game developed by 100s of people.

People forget this is an indy dev with FIVE people in it.
