4 NiMH AA rechargables, and a 90-minute charger. That's all you really need, and it comes in handy for far more than just the Wiimote (unlike the many charging stations third parties are putting out these days).

This.

@Machina, the controller is already $40 because of the motion sensor and IR camera, they don't want to make them even more expensive by adding a rechargeable lithium ion cell.  Besides, AA rechargeables are cheap and widely available, and interchangeable with other electronics.  The same batteries you use in your GBA can go in your Wii Remotes.  :)

I bought some good Energizer rechargables. I think 4 came with the charger for $25, and then I bought 8 more for $15-20, can't remember.

That way I've got plenty for 4 Wiimotes as well as other things that need them. And boy do they last long. I bought them around when SMG came out, and other than the one controller, the other 3 have had the same batteries in them since then. And we used them a few nights a week, especially last week.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

I use the Nyko Wii Docking Station, I don't need your stinking batteries.

How you got yours to work is beyond me. Neither of my battery pack will touch the connectors without jamming something in there... which doesn't seem safe.

I'll probably buy a regular battery recharger since the place i'm moving in to has uilties covered with the rent.

i charge the batteries. they are awesome!!

Third party charger. No problems at all.

Aurally examine my music!

Wear gaudy colours or avoid display. It's all the same.

Be warned, I will use walls of polysyllables and complex clauses as a defence against lucid argument.

Wand to read a creepy thread?

I have 12 rechargeable batteries, with 4 of them in my wiimotes at all times, so I have 8 aside waiting to be used. They aren't the best quality though, only last 10-12 hrs. But, not really a big deal, since there are so many.

The 2600mAh last wicked long, and 10 batteries is enough to cycle out the batteries for 4 controllers. Plus, since it is a smart charger, each battery is charged to the max, compared to how most wall chargers work where the charge 2 batteries in a group. The group setup causes one battery to be overcharged, and the other undercharged, which can lead to problems.

This looks great. Thanks for the tip. The 2600 mAh batteries are the highest i've seen and should last a long time.

Rechargable batteries is the answer

I had the same problem as Superchunk with my charging station before, so I stopped using it. Last week I bought a third party battery pack that gets plugged directly into by a usb mini. I think it'll be easier to bring with me to places with just a cord instead of a station and so far the battery seems to last reasonably well. This upcoming weekend I may pick up one or two more packs for my other controllers.
