Probably, and undeservedly so.

Why? They're basically the same thing. Two movies trying to replicate the magic of the originals by selling out (SW=female/black leads and JW=CGI overload). They both failed imo.

Wait, what? What exactly is "selling out" about having female or black leads? O__o

There's no way in hell Star Wars is gonna get close to 3 billion and beat Avatar. Star Wars will make a lot of cash FAST but it won't have the legs that Avatar had. No movie had legs like Avatar and Titanic.

Sure, it has a chance to beat Titanic (unadjusted). But Titanic (adjusted) has over 1 billion domestically and freaking who knows how much internationally  adjusted (hint hint A SHIT TON!!!!) Titanic was triumphant and a true cinematic masterpiece that stunned the hearts of the world. Star Wars doesn't have that.

It should beat Jurassic World (which should have been better than it was.)

I just don't want Star Wars to beat my two fav box office champs, Titanic and Avatar which both held their records for YEARS. And well, isn't it a rule now that only Cameron can beat Cameron? 

Avatar 2 will make the world explode.

Well, certainly not my heart. I think Titanic is, in my opinion, the most overrated film ever. Well, as everything that Cameron has done, except maybe Aliens (Which is worse than the first one, to be honest) and Terminator 2. Let's not talk about Avatar, I think I've never been so bored in a cinema before. 

Disney decided to get all "PC"... which is trendy right now. Anytime you let money dictate art, said art becomes void of integrity. Star Wars is now just a corporate whore, chasing after females and The Hunger Games crowd. 

I'll stick to the originals.

So, you propose to totally erase black and female leads on a film? Because it would seem like it's selling out? This is a new Star Wars film, it's not like they're changing the gender/race of any character. They're new characters, and one is black and one is a female. I feel sorry for you if you can't see a film because the characters are not white and male. 

No, I'm one of those people who think art should be dictated by the creators intentions and not the studios lust for demographic growth. 

Will it? I know everyone saw Avatar, since then I have not watched it or met anyone who has done repeat viewings.  It was an event with the 3D and new tech, but I'd be curious if people remember famous lines or even character names from Avatar.

In any event Star Wars will make a ton of money, I'd guess 2 billion or so when it is said and done.

I agree. It wasn't a very good movie and I don't remember anything about it. Just boredom. 3 hours of boredom. So I'm very sure that Avatar 2 will make less money than the first one.
