Their latest show off of their VR was pretty awful at PSX

Showing VR while you are not wearing it is pretty hard.

Even so, the games confirmed for it already makes this more exciting than it ever was.

Gran Turismo, DriveClub, Ace Combat, Tekken, Final Fantasy Online (XIV).

There is certainly no lack of quality games trying to push VR. Far from being awful.

I have to diagree. I've not seen a single impressive thing about Sony's VR yet. Still on the wait and see approach in hopes they they entice me towards it

And people have yet to understand, that VR games cannot be perceived the same way as conventional games.

I couldn't care less about VR. The games I like to play have deeply refined gameplay and I don't see that happening with VR. Maybe in a couple decades but I doubt it. It looks like everything with VR is from the first person perspective and there are very few games that I like that use that perspective. VR as it stands right now is trying to enchant people with the magic of VR by giving VR 'Experiences' and not gaming.

Perhaps when VR is really about gaming and not VR then I'll be interested.

I find this to be a weird criticism...I mean Battlezone and Rez are both pretty gameplay focused games. You talk as if VR games are going to have inherently worse gameplay than non-VR games.

Now, it's fine if you're not excited for VR. If you aren't interested in first person, or immersive games, than VR isn't really going to do much for you.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I just wish they'd open up pre-order links for it already.

But that's your opinion.
It's a fact it's getting quality content as I mentioned with those game, as they are from big, consolidated franchises.

It may not be your thing, or my thing, or anyone else thing, but it's not being awful, it's receiving the best incentives VR always showed to have.
Also, as already mentioned, your experience here and using one is totally different, so even your personal perception may not have been true to what you could have also be thinking about how VR is to you or not.

Obviously its my opinion, its my opinion that everything about it looks awful so far. Just like you're free to think it looks great or really interesting as well, nothing wrong with that, just different stroke for different folks :O

I have no interest in VR and I honestly hope others don't follow. I don't want a library of games being made by my favourite devs that would force and require a head unit to play them. VR in my opinion is nothing more then a gimmick with a focus on a small audience. The only people I know would buy VR are those who play PC horror games. This is also going to up the cost of the consoles if games start relying on VR which would mean they would start bundling it in etc.

You were that guy that said I hope more developers don't follow Sega with 3D. I don't want to buy an analog stick, and I enjoy my dpad! Sorry but VR is the natural evolution.

As someone who can't use VR i selfishly hope it is going to be a fad

So, I've made quite a few PSVR focused threads over the last few months and I've noticed something pretty interesting.

No matter the context, the conversations surrounding VR are pretty much always focused on either how much it will cost, or if it's a good idea.

This isn't a criticism of course, those are the big "what ifs" surrounding VR at the moment. It does make me really interested in what the conversations will be a year from now.

Seriously? Kinect? You compare input to output? At least say 3D.

Motion control doesn't make a game unconventional in the sense VR does. It's just another kind of input peripheral, like mouse&keyboard or a gamepad. It doesn't transfer the user to a different perspective. With Kinect you get what you see, no matter if you're actively using it or passively watching. In VR on the other hand, to either experience it actively or passively you have to put something directly infront of your eyes.

One has to try VR individually, then and only then he/she can make up his mind and have their opinion about it. Yeah, and this my opinion... *rolling eyes*

You dont need a faith to believe in VR you just need to try on your local gaming store or your friend house
