When we get VR set that work perfect and are nice to have on for more than 10 minutes.. they will chance the world.. no doubt.. So I dont agree.. if Sonys solution fails its becourse PSVR is not good enurgh..

(And just for the record.. Nintendo had testet and worked on VR since VB)

What? When was the last time you used a VR headset? Maybe if PSVR was Google Cardboard, you'd have a point, but it's not. Even the Gear VR is comfortable enough to wear for an entire movie. By the time the big guns land you'll be able to spend hours wearing them playing games like ARK and very likely No Mans Sky.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I tried PS VR, Oculus, and Vive. If I have to by VR device, I'll choose Vive.

It doesn't seem to have a positive effect on his driving abilities...

The difference is Sony is bringing the console experience to a quality virtual reality headset—first-party titles and one configuration setup to both make the lives of developers easy and offer gamers the best experience possible.

PSVR might not be the best, yet I won't have to worry what PC I need to run VR games on which PC headset.

Yes I also think/hope this.. Just saying if it not succes.. its not becourse of VR being fail.. but rather the VR set (but I totally expect Sony to make some nice)

VR is  not only a tech that will improve much in the comming years.. there is also lots of different ways to do it

If Sony succeeds in pushing VR gaming into the mainstream audiences, I really a hope a new generation of motion controls for console gaming emerges that is acceptable to both mainstream and dedicated gamers. And I hope the industry then creates a traditional motion controller that is not gimmicky but fun to use even on the couch. I was really disappointed in Nintendo for dropping motion control with the Wii U for the Gamepad and failed to improve the Wii controller to be more suitable for dedicated gamers. Besides VR itself, there is nothing more immersive and comfortable than using the IR pointer for shooter games or shaking the controller gently to physically interact with objects in a game. Splatoon has shown gyro controls can work well in third person shooters but its just not the same as IR pointing and keyboard and mouse.

For example, imagine if the Wii controller was changed to be as wide as an iPhone 5 so the A button would be replaced with the traditional ABXY buttons. And instead of the digital trigger button below, two trigger buttons like an analog ZR and a digital R button were there instead. Thie d-pad above the ABXY can be replaced with an analog stick as well since the small nunchuk controller could be bigger to fit a d-pad below its analog stick. This design solves the Wii controller and nunchuk's flaw of less buttons so dedicated gamers won't be afraid to use them and have easier access to  unintrusive motion controls like the gyroscope and IR pointing if they choose to use them. This controller may be intimidating for the mainstream audience that game mostly on smartphones and etc but Nintendo could always sell the old style Wii controller and nunchuck as well.

This is how motion controls and its controller could be accepted by the mainstream and dedicated gamers but unfortunately motion controls seem to be a mobile exclusive input for the next few generations.

I do have to give props to Sony for pursuing VR. It is new technology with potential to bring new ways not just to play, but to experience new worlds, and other various usages. Microsoft is already following behind, and Ninten may jump in as well, when they find a unique and interesting way to enjoy VR.

However, in its current form, I am not so interested in it myself. It looks awkward and rather unenjoyable. I don't agree that this will immerse me into this virtual world. The need for a controller in my hand wouldn't pull me in, but take me out of it, as I am playing a game in a fake world with a TV screen, but all around me. Also, being unable to move in this world free, would also break that immersion. I probably wouldn't really enjoy it myself. I can immerse myself into a game without this form of VR.

This could become mainstream. Only time will tell, but personally, I wouldn't be interested in it.

I am going to guess you have yet to try OR or PSVR. I have had some very sceptical/cynical friends, that changed their mind completely once they actually tried one or the other.

VR takes games using DS4 to the next level. VR with motion controllers is a whole new experience, that is beyond films or games. We are talking about a new form of entertainment, a new form of productivity in the virtual space, a whole new world to explore that offers possabilities we have not even thought of yet. VR takes the shackles off creativity, and virtually anything becomes possible.

I have not tried PSVR specifically. I did try something similar once with a smartphone device and a headset. I may have tried Occulus once at TGS...? I don't recall. Even if I wanted to, Sony has made it too difficult to sample PSVR, allowing only a very limited number of people to try it, which drove me wild. I would have liked to sample it, but never got the chance.

What VR device I did try, I didn't think much of it, other than it was neat technology. Unfortunately, I don't share the same opionion as you. I don't think VR as it is is not much different than playing on a TV. I say this a lot, but I feel VR will get there you are fully able to play and move in a virtual space without the need of a controller, like Sword Art Onlibe, haha....

Wait so you're telling me I need a PC to use a Vive or HTC?, aw man I guess my mates are totally fuck then, better tell them to not touch PC VR. I also better ring up Gabe and Facebook to tell them to go home while I'm at it because they clearly stand no chance whatsoever.
