Mobile (iOS/Android) which had more games than the consoles is no longer a leading platform for the series.

(Stealth brag - these are all the FF games I own on Steam - minus XI and XIV because they are MMORPG though I might be getting XIV in the future)

I don't think Square Enix understands the term "Final"

I think there was a story about how they made so many games that were failures and that "Final Fantasy" was their last game that they thought they were going to make which is why they called it that but...I think that story was debunked - so not sure.

Congratulations, you're a prophet. Also on the console side, Xbox and Nintendo have been getting a lot of Final Fantasy games ported since the late 2010s.

Yeah, its crazy how many games Xbox and Nintendo has gotten. I'm glad they did.

Too bad Square Enix stopped porting games on iOS/Android.

The recent phones can absolutely play X, X-2 and XII for sure.

When games like Resident Evil 8 and Assassin's Creed Mirage being playable on iPhones , it is 100% possible that the PS2 generation games can run on them.

I couldn't care less. I would never even touch a PC! For me its useless rubbish. It would be a nice target for a desert eagle!

I use my mobile phone! I do not need a PC, not even for work. Less stress and trouble for me.😎

Also has some SE games that are not on the current gen consoles like Chrono trigger

I think Japanese devs saw the rise of pc gaming, rise of steam players in Japan etc, 

Except for The Last Remnant....
