What's with the title. Who was quoted? You saying it and quoting yourself doesn't count.

If I already have those games, probably I already have a PS2, so no point in buying them again for PS4.... If I never played, let's say, "Dark Cloud, I'll buy it for PS4... It's the same situation of HD collections and remastered, simple as that.

Hey don't click here ! It's creepy !!

I want a PlayStation All-Stars Sequel ! Come on Sony, stop making too many shooters !

I'll make a better signature when I'll have time to do it...

Oh, there was another company beeing greedy as well? MS no less? Then everything is fine, I guess. Since it doesn´t seem to have crossed your mind, they could have easily chosen not to hide basic online gaming behind a paywall. They could have continued their PSN subscription model as it was in the beginning if they wanted to.

But guess what, every non apologist predicted that the PSN model as it was in the beginning was just a trojan horse and that it would develop into Sonys own Xbox Live. Since they were far behind, they knew they needed more incentives in the beginning, that´s all.

For some perspective;

- Microsoft making bank on all it's software products, releases the original xbox and bleeds money like a mofo but the whole company keeps making bank like if nothing happened, the xbox struggled to sell when it was being overshadowed by the PS2 so instead of releasing live for free they start charging for live, the paid service continues into the 360 were it picks ups steam and continues into the xboxone despite poor hardware sales live and the live market remain very strong.

-Sony as a company struggling to keep afloat, bleeds money on the PS3 but keeps the PS3 online free as a value add to to entice people but it did shit all, even when the PS3 had a competitive price and tons of great games, free online did shit to get people on board, instead people mocked it for being inferior. Sony start it's PS+ service again as a value add, this time around people are receptive to it, so the service continues to the Vita and PS4, the service does so well that even Microsoft and EA copied that model. Sony then moves online behind the subscription for the PS4 reveal and no major fuss came out of it.

Moral of the story, the market forces have spoken, they are ok with paying for online and have been OK since the  inception of xbox live. Sales prove this, no matter if the company behind the console is financially struggling or making crazy money.

Don't get me wrong, it sucks that this is a thing, if it wasn't for the fact that I found value in PS+ I would be super annoyed so I sympathize with you and those people, but lets be honest your in the minority here, luckily there are still options like the WiiU, PS3, and of course the PC. As for the Nintendo NX, all this talk about the cloud, welp seems to me like they are going for the value add position in order to charge for it, and why not, the market at large is ok with, it's competition are doing it, so it's only logical that they do it as well....it sucks I know but unfortunately it's just the way things are going....the only thing you can do is vote with your wallet, and that's easer said than done.

Yes, Sony is sending some though guys to your house to look at your ps2 disks and if you have one of the titles they released on the ps4 as a ps2 classic they will make you repurchase it, even if you don't have a ps4!!! Who do they think they are? Somebody call the police!

Just note that this is not a defense of Sony's use of their emulator, but your title is absurd... Note that how MS is using their pseudo backward compatibility as a constant PR fodder is absurd as well when you consider that less than 10% of all 360 titles are available on it, and calling it freenis even more disingenuous considering you still need to buy the games in question.

As for myself I could not rebuy any ps2 games as I do not own any... And if the whole library was available I'd probably get 2 or 3 at most... So either way it's a nice to have and I suspect that many do not have their ps2 games anymore... Anyway,  it would have been nice to have the opportunity to play them with the visual enhancements but without trophies from the disc.

Wii U has it on both, doesn't seem to matter. Everyone bitches about consoles not having BC but then when it is given to them(even in full form like the early PS3s), the majority do not care. X1's BC is better than nothing but it is still gimped BC.

Would people still be angry if instead of 'emulator' it was 'cheap dirty port'?

The port costing more would result in even less PS2 games coming to PS4, in this case I'd actually prefer the emulated but sold on PSN version just so their is more of a chance of PS2 games hitting the PS4.

I completely agree with you, Personally I still think that a Disc based emulator is coming, but it won't be free. I think I'd be ok with paying for an emulator if it meant I could play my PS2 games I currently own, I think this could be a good enough comprise....I just hope it's actually a thing.

"i already own a game, yet im bitching about to have to repurchase it on another platform. even though i own it and can play it"

sheesh. if you own then, then just fucking play it and stop bitching.

Your right on the money, dammed if you, dammed if you don't, I guess people just wanna complain.

And your right about the PS3, it had full PS2 hardware which meant full disc backwards compatibility, the machine cost $800 to make but Sony sold it at a loss for $600, peoples reaction....Fuck sony it's too expensive, it's a rip off, why can't it be $400 like the xbox360, I'm not buying it. Sony cuts everything out it an to get it to $400 and then peoples reaction....fuck Sony I can't believe they are removing backwards compatibility, I'm not buying it....love how unreasonable some people can be.

The WiiU is a great example of backwards compatibility and price, yep that value add sold millions....about 11million in 3 years....For perspective the PS4 with no backwards compatibility sold 30million in 2 years....yeah people like to bitch but the sales numbers just don't back it. Backwards compatibility is awesome to have if it can be done practically for free but it is definitely not something that moves consoles. Even the PS2 and PS3 sold more on the fact they could play DVD and Blu-ray more than backwards compatibility so that says something about where the mass maket priorities lay.

One last example, people complaining that the PS4 and xbox one are crappy low powered computers, were they expecting some pixie magic or something, I mean talk about being unreasonable, they wanted something that rivaled a friggin top end graphics card like the GTX780 but for the price of $400 cuz if it ain't that it don't sell....and this doesn't even take into account then heat output. I don't even know where these expectation come from anymore, I mean at the PS4 reveal they announced the specs and size of the machine, what did they expect was gonna be in a 2013 console.

But what cracks me up is when people in 2015 buy cheap, yet powerful low/mid PC parts that came out in 2015 and then laugh at the console 'peasants' because their $600 'gaming' rig can play all PS4/Xb1 games at 1080p@60fps no problems, I mean no shit Sherlock it's 2 years worth of hardware refinement, I'd be surprised if it didn't out perform the PS4/xb1. It's ironic though cause while they mock console players with their low/mid PC rigs, they themselves aren't even part of the PC master race as that is reserved to the few people who have the money to buy the actual top end hardware and I mean the GTX980 in SLI not the 970, the 6-8 core I7 and not the 2-4 core I3, and the peeps playing in 4k and not 1080p... I mean just let people enjoy games on what ever platform they want with out being a dick about things.

anyways, sorry for the mini rant XD

Well, Nintendo and Xbox sorta do this with Nintendo Virtual Console and Xbox Arcade, so i don't really see a problem.

Or one could make the argument that if fans have bought their games once and actually helped Sony reach success, they shouldn't have to fork out cash once more just because they are dedicated to the brand. You can argue either way, it all depends on where you're coming from.
