I want Dragon Quest 8 on PS4

I would pay $15 despite the fact that I have my PS2 copy all of 45 seconds away from me down a flight of stairs. Dragon Quest 8 with trophy support to give wandering a bit more meaning, and with bumped up graphics in a game that has already aged well? I couldn't spend my money fast enough.

Ikr? I freaking love Dragon Quest 8. It's an under appreciated classic

Doubt that will happen anytime soon but it is coming to the 3DS next year.

If you already own them then you can already play them... on your PS2. These are updated remasters specifically configured for the PS4.

I'm suspecting the "update" is something similar to what "Bleem!" did with PSX games on Dreamcast, effectively giving them upwards of twice the resolution, adding in anti-aliasing and overall sharper visuals. Then Sony only needs to add trophies so its not that much work I think. But I kind of agree that they ofcourse should be able to set a price for the games but in the wake of X360 BC, it seems kind of cheap of them doing so.

Just looked at GT2 through "Bleem!" on YouTube, its quite amazing the upscale if graphics: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5-tQX-XZhX0

I know that. I'm buying every version of Dragon Quest 8 availiable XD I have the PS2 and iOS versions already. I'm hyped for the 3DS version. I'm hoping for a Vita version but I doubt that'll happen as well v.v

It's a massive assumption to say that "the XBox One will always have a BC advantage over PS4", it's assumed that it's impossible to make PS3 games run on PS4, but it's already clear with XB1's BC that the RISC to CISC thing is possible to overcome, something that hardly anybody thought was possible.
SPUs could be emulated by PS4's GPU, with a Virtual Machine created to facilitate the process and a separate wrapper to translate ISA code to a language that PS4's GPU can work with.

I'm yet to see a legitimate argument for why PS3 games can't be made to run on PS4, other than the lack of effort from Sony's development resources.
Also as others have stated, these PS2 games aren't simple ports, they're improved, remasters of those games, which Sony's development team have put work into. to make them look and run better, while also adding trophy support.

People really do love to downplay positive things.

Dayum sons - you got the iOS ver - you got the 3 D's

Damn Dat Dedication

I still have my PS2 version - havent even touched it other than the day that I purchased it 8 years ago. Was gonna emulate it on my gaming laptop but the 3DS ver got announced for the west ;0

The iOS is a bit pricey, but worth it in my eyes XD I want a Vita version so my 3 fave games ever are on one system (again). DQ8, Persona 4, and FFX :3

My backlog is too big so I'm not buying anything now. I'll get the 3 gtas for $5 each in a flash sale/sale.

Trophy support and slight graphical upgrade is a bonus.

And yeah $99 a year for 300 ps3 games is a bargain. They added some major series to it recently too namely Bioshock, batman and borderlands. The 3 B's!

I don't think it can be argued that PS3 playback on PS4 is impossible, just not worth the effort. Might as well put the development dollar somewhere thats worth it.

This will depend on the person you ask.

Clearly BC is of value to some people, it's certainly of value to some, maybe a lot of people. Sony felt the need to use emulation to run PS2 games, obviously these are improved, so they have some interest in using their resources to get some older Playstation home consoles working on PS4.

My comment is really just about the possibility of making PS3 games work on PS4 and that I haven't seen any kind of logical argument to really make a case for why it can't be done.

OP does have a point but in terms of what games are available and how many only time will tell.

So far the only company that has done b/c perfectly (but did horribly in other aspects) is Nintendo.

This entire gen is proof that all three companies are either clueless or just greedy.

It's too much money to let go.
