Chromeo said: So here's a question. Why is everyone so excited for a new Crash game? If memory serves me correctly, the first few games were a sort of "faux-3D" where you moved along preset narrow areas, but was never the same as Mario 64. The later games were just kind of...ok. But drifted off into mediocrity. So...what's the excitement for? Exactly? |
Some of us adored the original Crash Trilogy. I preferred Crash 1-3 over Mario 64. These series was mishandled after leaving Naughty Dog and now it has been so long that aniticipation has built up. When I look at how jaw droppingly amaizng Ratchet and Clank looks on Ps4 hard for me not to think be nice for the Bandicoot to get a shot.

Obviously it is because of modern games being bad in quality or content. Or maybe it's because of nostalgia.
If you take any game series that was once applauded but driven into mud afterwards, the old fans have their hopes high every time it's hinted there's a good game coming as a new entry in the series. I know Sonic fans would ejaculate on their keyboards if there would be a good Sonic game coming, just like Zelda fans for a good Zelda, or if Rare made a good game for the first time in 15 years.
Of course it's everyone's preference, but I remember what my wife said back in 2000 when she played SM64 for the first time; she and her friends used to play Crash Bandicoot her friends kids' Playstation while drinking a few before going into a bar, and she kept telling me how good game CB was. One time at my place, I let her play SM64, and after 10 minutes of playing, she said to me she had never realised how shitty of a game Crash was.
