Forums - Sony Discussion - Fan Favorite PS2 Games Launching on PS4 Tomorrow

I really think these games should be priced between $5-$10. Nothing more than that for decade old games.

If I didn't own these games, the price wouldn't be super terrible. I already have most of the games I like on this list, and am not gonna drop $15 for trophy support. I don't think I have Rogue Galaxy anymore though...might snag that one.

Aren't those prices pretty steep and isn't there any way for those who've already bought those games to get them for free?

Why would you get the ports for free? These are not the same versions since they have added features. people need to understand that. Did you get any other ports for free?

lol, too expensive? Apparently people forget that these games were $60 new.

"You mean I have to pay a fourth of the original price instead of a sixth? WHAT A RIP-OFF".

For what it's worth, I believe that the extra time to add trophies and upscale are why you're paying 1/4 instead of 1/6.

THey are a bit expensive, I would have liked 9.99 (booker T voice) universally. However gonna by Dark Cloud tomorrow!

I do agree that the prices should be no more than $9.99, but people have bought other ports for $30 or more like FF Agito and FF10. I will be buying the Mark of Kri either way.

Its awesome they're bringing PS2 games to PS4. A bigger variety of software on one piece of hardware is always a good thing.

But $15 to use an old PS2 game on an emulator? That's bullshit.

People should have access to their PS2 Classics purchases on PS4. The way Sony is handling this is horrible.

They were $49.99 new and it's called depreciation. Personally, I don't care. The market will dictate the price, not Sony. If they sell like shit, they'll drop back down where they should be.

Going to have to pass, considering I can buy some PS4 games for $10.

Hmm I think the pricing seems fair. I mean PSOne classics are $5.99, and $9.99 for the iconic games. So PS2 being $9.99/14.99 seems right. Correct me if I'm wrong but Nintendo charges more on the eShop for N64 games compared to Sony with PSOne games.

Perhaps the best pricing model to net more digital revenue would be pricing all games $5.99 for PSOne classics and $9.99 for all PS2 classics.

And make PSP emulation possible as well! PS4 and PS3 should run PSP games too, priced at $8.99 for all software. It would only push more digital sales by giving the software access to two more platforms.

However, they should give access to the games for people who have already bought them.

Not sure how the emulator works, but I think it should be possible to just enable the PS4 to play PS2 discs as well. My guess is the currently released games were tweaked to be able to run, so not every game is currently compatible/run-able.

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)

Okay, now I want an update to PS4 firmware so I can organize my games/tiles into labeled folders, you know like Wii U. I'll have a folder for PS4 games, another for PS2, one for PS1, one for PSP ;) , one for apps, another for demos...etc.

I think the prices are fine considering that they are improved versions. However, they could consider frequently discounting them for PS+ members. They could also think about giving away a PS2 game to PS+ members every now and then as part of the PS+ subscription.

Anyway, great addition to an already good system. Obviously to me the prices are fine, $10/$15 whatever, the both fall into "cost next to nothing" category to me, but I can understand some people being a bit upset if the classics they bought on PS3 don't transfer over.
