The Wii, no? Unless we're limiting the pool of folks whose opinions count, anyways.

Thinking on it again, I don't think scapegoat is even the right word. Ninten isn't taking the blame for all the things wrong with the industry, only the things it does wrong, and people don't hate on it because it is cool to hate, but because of the questionable things they do.

how are they not letting them exist? Outside of the forums no one is saying Ninty needs to stop, and even then thats still a small minority. People just arent buying the consoles, what you want them to do buy a 300 plus system they have no interest in so they dont feel bad.

Well obviously if someone doesn't like a product why would you spend all day on a forum ridiculing the company that makes it. Why attack people who do actually support and play Nintendo games? This is what I'm talking about with coexisting. Guess what if I don't like country music I just don't buy it or listen to it!

But gamers who don't like Nintendo wish to ruin people's experience that do like the company and they make it their job every day to do so. You may try and paint this as some small minority who do this, but just look no further than sites like this, N4G, NeoGaf or on YouTube. You can't enjoy anything without someone coming to completely derail any positive discussions that people maybe trying to have about something they do enjoy.  It's just very high school and childish really nothing mature about that...

and thats still not a large amount of people doing it, you guys take the internet way too seriously sometimes. And even if it was a LOT of people, so what? Sticks and stones, we're all adults here. (i think)  Is someone bad mouthing Ninty really killling your enjoyment of a product you spent your hard earned money on? ignore it.

if people didnt want to buy a console because they thought it looked like a purple lunch box, that is there prerogative. Whats the problem with that? How is that retarted?

Eh...

Do I really need to answer that?

you dont have to do anything you dont wan to do. Like buy a console that looks like a lunchbox.

the original PS didnt have colorful gameplay centric games? HA! Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Parappa the rapper, Rayman and that was in addition to all the mature games and the ones that never even made it to N64 and being cheaper, THATS why N64 got stomped.

Wiimote, anyone with common sense and wasnt blinded by their love of Ninty knew how that whole thing was going to play out. "Never lived up to its full potential"? Whose fault was that? It cant live out to its potential if the HW sucks and lets be honest the wiimote was inaccurate as crap. and the motion+ thing barely got supported by anyone including Ninty.

I really like Nintendo, I'm enjoying my Wii U, but I also wish Wii U was their last home console.

Between PC, Xbox, and Playstation there is enough competition. I really hope the NX is a portable/home console. That might justify its existence.

I like Nintendo games and I would buy more of them if they went 3rd party.

I agree there's no room for 3 similiar console experiences in the market. Still, Nintendo tried to offer a different kind of experience from others during the Wii/DS era, but they were extremely criticized for that.

At the OP, I don't entirely agree. It's true lots of people (both users and industry insiders) have double standards when talking about Nintendo, still mostly thier struggles are due to their own faults. The WiiU hardware design, price and marketing didn't make any sense in commercial terms, also the 3DS has serious issues.

Wii was a fine console for what it was. Personally I hated playing a lot of games aiming with a Wiimote. But I had a blast playing some games that opt for a standard gamepad.

My gripes with the DS are kinda the same. I was annoyed by games that crowbarred touchscreen into the experience. Still had great games though.

My issue with the Wii U is forcing an expensive tablet on us to play games that work fine with a standard gamepad. A Wii U with no tablet control would have been significantly more successful.

If there is an opinion involved, then another thing would be negatively attacked

It goes for every console, every company and every game.. Nintendo isn't the only company that has been bashed before and it definitely won't be the last either

Rivalry is good and bad, and since Nintendo has been competing against other companies from the beginning, it will have a long history of these negative things

You clearly didn't read your OP buddy

I have no idea what youconspiracy're talkhing about, pal.

Wait you are not the OP, who the hell was I replying toconspiracyaway!!!o.

On topic I think it's unfair how gamers are threating Nintendo, they are after all the innovator of the gaming industry but Sony fans and microsoft fans keep conspire see against them. We need to stop and accept the fact that Nintendo is a gaming company and produce games that are meant to be sold.

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Even though the Wii was the leader in sales overall for its generation I really don't think it was the most popular.

Thats sounds dumb but as well as the Wii sold its sales fell in later life and got overtaken by both 360 and PS3 on a weekly basis, that doesn't happen to the most popular console. Wii wasn't the legacy system of its generation.

Imo the most popular consoles have been:

  • Atari VCS
  • NES
  • SNES
  • PS
  • PS2

Last gen its hard to say, I'd go for PS3 although its close with the 360. They've both been supported longer and have higher software sales than Wii.

They're simply 'cooler'. Its common in pop culture for the Wii to be made fun of, after a huge 3 years it became a bit of an embarrassing joke.

Case in point. Always the fault of Nintendo or its fans.

I feel sorry for Nintendo fans. At my core I am a Nintendo fan, but I do not agree with their politics or unwillingness to work with others. It gives them less opportunities. Their ignorance should not be applauded but their devotion to quality should not go unnoticed. The Wii U severely tarnished the Nintendo image worse than the Gamecube.

I feel sorry for you too! Ha!

No, it was the Wii. Simple as that. Don't look for excuses. Just as the Wii U is the least popular succesful console ever in Nintendo history (VB I know), Wii was their most popular and the most popular console last gen.
