Forums - Nintendo - Digitimes Rumor: Nintendo to ship 10-12m NX units in 2016

am I the only one who is excited by NX next year? I love my Wii U (gamepad issues aside) but next year will be awesome if NX launches. I mean Nintendo consolidating their game divisions alone is fantastic news for what NX is capable of, even if it has issues like Wii U. NX just might be the crowning achievement of Nintendo, and I think that it can't come fast enough.

I am very exited, all infos we have about NX are very positive and cant wait to revel it. Also I think that NX home console will not be expensive very likely $250-300, so I will maybe buy it on launch even I never buy consoles on launch.

Until NX and Zelda U dont arrives, I will play TP HD and Star Fox Zero (for now), and few Wii U games that I missed.

First full year.

This rumor is the second part of this:

"Orders for the NX will be finalized by March 2016, and the sources indicate that Nintendo intends to ship 20 million units during the first year. Now that’s confidence."

Nintendo's new game console is scheduled to enter mass production at the end of the first quarter 2016 and despite the fact that the Japan-based company is targeting to ship 20 million units in 2016, the device's upstream component suppliers expect shipments to only reach around 10-12 million units.

They dont say FY2016. but 2016 its self. hence my "Not Gonna Happen" post.

i doubt Nintendo are aiming for 20 million units, even if its in the first 12 months of the console. thats just way over confident.

Well 3DS managed around 15m in first calendar launch year and Wii U managed around 3m in 2012. So that's around 18m combine.

They are so different that they have nil overlap?

NX home and handheld will be heavy integrated, but again biggest difference between handheld and home console will still exist, one is mobile console with small screen another is home console for playing on big screen. So whole point that Nintendo with those 20m will aim handheld and home console market, I already said that Wii U and 3DS combine had around 18m in first year, so 20m for NX is realistic.

Ok won't discuss further. No vídeo game hardware sold 20M on its first calendar year or even fiscal. You are being too optmistic. For those numbers to happen they would need hh at 150 and console 250 and I'm not that confident it will happen. Will you save this for end of next year?

those are two consoles. it makes no sense combining their sales.

Yeah I think they're basically just taking the Wii U first fiscal year + 3DS first fiscal year and combining them, as NX is probably an over-arching product line of various different hardware.

GBA and GameCube both launched in 2001 too and they sold about 20 million combined by fiscal year end (March 2002).

In which case 10-20 million is reasonable I guess. It doesn't really matter anyway, Nintendo can project whatever they want, the market has the final word as always.

Again it not one game hardware its two, and when 3DS and Wii U (espacily Wii U that is ultimate failure) manage to make 18m I dont see why completely new and integrated platform can do 20m. But this Digitimes info saying think that suppliers can provide "only" 10-12m. I do believe that handheld will be $150-200 and home console $250-300.

Yes it make sense if NX is also two consoles.

what is this article and nonsense?

its based on absolutely NOTHING, absolutely no references or information. why make a thread on such lack of information. this is just a joke in terms of speculation, like pulling a number and date from a random bag or magic 8 ball. absurd.

Well, it's a rumor, based on an earlier rumor (the initial 20m Shipment rumor, that also stated massproduction was expected to start around the same time, they just fleshed it out a little) as far as I can tell.

Just make Smash 4 compatible or Smash 4 DX/NX for NX and have commercials of it and Cloud Strife with the system and the skies are the limit for the first year sales.
