Forums - Nintendo - I never played The Legend of Zelda without a walkthrough before. Am I the only one?

I think I used a walkthrough when I first played the original Zelda game. That's about it!

Yeah. I've used one on every game. At least one area gets me screwed. Or I want to reach 100%. The postman stuff in MM was one thing. The water temple was another. I was so confused with Links Awakening and Oracle of Seasons. I had to play the both games with walk-throughs all the way.

I have never used a walk thru. Sorry... >_>;

Not on:

Ocarina of Time

The Wind Waker

Twilight Princess

A Link to the Past

A Link Between Worlds

Minish Cap

Triforce Heroes

Used one for:

Majora's Mask (for a couple of pieces of heart and 2 main quests: how to carry the deku princess and how to transform Darmani in a mask)

Skyward Sword (one of the crystal quest, the mogma one that works with the girl in the sky, and to see how to defeat Demise in its second fase when he gets his sword with thunders)

Link's Awakening (to know what to do in Eagle's Tower)

Oracle of Seasons (a couple of times I was lost)

Needed an entire walkthrough:

Zelda 1

Zelda 2

I don't remember. I typically use strategy guides if I'm unclear on where to go next... Like not when there is a puzzle in front of me I don't know how to solve, but more like "I don't know what my next objective is at all and I don't want to wander the map until I find it". I know I used one once or twice for Skyward Sword, but aside from that I'm not quite sure.

I have used walkthroughs except for LoZ, ALTTP, and ALBW. They are pretty straightforward in their puzzles IMO.

I can't remember of ever using walktroughs in Zelda games excluding in a few runs on Link's Awakening due to the game beeing in English since I couldn't tell what I was supposed to do

To be honest, I like looking at guides in almost every game I play, not only with Zelda. Sometimes it's only for some specific point when I'm lost or stuck, I don't like to use them a lot because I try to avoid spoilers as much as possible.

Nowadays it's different because you can find walkthroughs everywhere but when I was a kid we had nothing like that so being lost in a Zelda game was very common.

I replayed A Link To The Past last month and it took me 15 hours but I remember playing that game with my brother for months. We loved that game, but we were also a bit bad at it and we spent hours wandering around trying to figure out what to do next.

Now that I can look for the solutions on google its easier and less frustrating but back when you couldn't do that it was more rewarding.

I'm planning to play Zelda U without looking at any walkthrough, at least I'll try :P

No, I generally don't use a Walkthrough unless I'm seriously stuck, so that happened to me for Link's Awakening DX (didn't know you can attack doors to unlock them) and once in OoT

After I beat them, though, I might use a walkthrough to get all the things I missed
