Forums - Gaming - Bold Prediction: Uncharted 4 won't be as good as Rise of the Tomb Raider (Metacritic)

So... you think Uncharted 4 will get 85 Metascore or less.

I can't get myself to like the new LC, she seems to be always almost dying and squirming. I don't think the writers when putting the story together and writing dialogue have done Lala and TR any favours.

Although the level design is sweet in TR and puzzles are better, I think Uncharted beats it on story, characters, moment to moment action and set pieces, mp and with the new one hopefully it will have better puzzles etc than the previous UC games.

Also, since this is the last UC, I think journalists might want to lay the series rest on a high note.

@bolded

I agree. I think my main gripe with Lara is the voice actress. Her voice and groaning kind of irritate me,, she seems whiney, and I don't find her very likeable. I thought the old Lara Croft was pretty BA. I really liked the TR reboot, but I did not like Lara or ANY of the other characters, or the story; I liked it for the gameplay. Still looking forward to playing RotTR in 2016.

Her English accent is also horrendous. She doesn't sound British and you wouldn't think she went to a prestigious Scottish private school.

Fun fact, the Scottish private boarding school has a reality TV show at the moment.

Wrong. Uncharted 4 production values will do the difference.

To be honest, while the Uncharted series had a better metacritic than the reboot of Tomb Raider, i found Tomb Raider better than Uncharted. It really felt more like you were fighting for your life, the exploration was superb(which in Uncharted there is next to none), and the combat overall was better. The only thing that uncharted does better than Tomb Raider, in my opinion, is the story, but not by much. And while i think I will like more Rise of Tomb Raider than UC4, I dont think Rise will score better than it.UC4 seems to have learned a thing or two from Lara, and looks like the world will be more open now, and the combat seems more engaging. We will need to see, but i find it hard for it to score 86 or lower

do you think its fair to compare a game that came out 2 years after the last uncharted?? CD had all the time in the world to improve upon uncharted formula! but still ND took them to school in the same year with TLoU and showed them how a survival horror should be done.

Second game in the TR reboot didn't even get the same accolades compared to the second game in the uncharted series. BTW who had a better survival horror game in 2013??

Uncharted is seriously overrated. I think your hypothesis is viable OP.

In one post you say TR released after the last Unchartered. Then you turn right around and compare it to Unchartered 2?

The gaming media is a lot less forgiving this time around.  They don't toss out the 9s and 10s as much as they used to.

UC4 has learned little from lara craft. The script writing isn't even on par. The first game had the whole island and every bit of wreckage out to kill you. Uncharted was more balanced well thought out and the mechanics much like the last of us was solid. I just bought tomb raider 2 but I hope they learned their lesson from one. It's hard not to question a woman who acts like a life threatening injury is on her when she's impaled for like a quarter of the game. I won't spoil it for everyone but the last of us stayed true to the immersion better and so did uncharted 2 when drake was injured. Uncharted has a crazy story but the story and gameplay were balanced into one cohesive unit where as tomb raider felt like a crazier thrill ride but less charming. The amount of rounds you had to unload on some enemies with your ak was unrealistic. Last but not least there's not much for tomb raider to learn for Nathan drake because unlike crystal dynamics and square Sony is confident in creating new franchises with naughty do and others under their ownership.

metacritic wise, I am having a hard time believing uncharted 4 scoring lower than TR but based on personal opinion, I don't see why not. You really enjoyed the reboot whereas I did find it pretty average.

ND is clearly an exception, quality wise.
ND and Rockstar were able to hold the massive score with their remastered 2013 games.

Uncharted 4 has only been showing to clearly be better than it always was and to be ahead of other games, I seriously don't see how will this one be scoring less than the first game, to be honest it's feeling like a TLOU/U2 all over again.

Maybe you're right.

  Guess we'll see.
