Forums - Nintendo - Who should they acquire?

Nobody. They should build new studios and hire people.

They've expanded a little of the past few years but not greatly.  EAD Tokyo and Monolith are both 2 teams now.  But they do need to expand more.

Can they afford to buy anyone? Just asking.

$10 billion the bank says yes.

Nintendo can't buy shit at the moment. They need to stabilize before they can acquire anything.

Perhaps buying a developer or two to complement their current staple of teams can help with that stabilization.

And profiting, well now they are.

Around the Network

1 thing Nintendo doesn't need is IPs they have a ton of unused properties laying around so buying a big company like sega or capcom would be cool but there would be a ton of series going to waste in the long run. Imo if they were to start buying up devs talented teams like platinum, shin'en (fast racing neo guys), wayforward, mistwalker ect would be the way to go

Capcom, Sega, Level 5, Bandai Namco, yadda yadda yadda.
These are all pipedreams just will always be too good to be true.

What Nintendo CAN do is acquire smaller western based devs. Ones that have found critical success with games or cult following.
What Nintendo SHOULD do is expand to be able to do more. Add more staff to their core teams and 2nd party studios like Retro Studios, Intelligent Systems, Next Level Games, etc.

Not to be pedantic, but Retro is first party, since 2002. ;)

Nintendo doesn't need to acquire anything. They just need to develop new IP's for a new generation of gamer and amass third party. You guys really like to overlook the obvious. This has always been Nintendos problem.

Haha, my mistake. But I am not fussed if they are called 2nd party.
