Forums - Nintendo - Media Blackout! Go into "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" blind with me! (Read OP Before Posting)

I like the idea. I'm doing the same for TW3, AK and Fallout 4 until I play them.

Isn't it the final symbol in the rich tool comment section? The one with the blue film?

For some reason, that usually doesn't work. I don't know they've fixed it. They haven't fixed it.

I added you to the list, by the way.

Even if I love to get spoiled about games like Pokémon because I can't wait for the game to release I managed (somehow) to not spoil myself XCX so that when and if I'll be able to play it on NX I'll enjoy it as much as I can. Let's see if a BIGGER game manages to get spoiled to me, I really hope that NX releases the same day as Zelda U so that I can buy both and don't get LOTS of chanses of getting spoiled

Want to be added?

I would love to be able to do this, but I feel like I'll end up failing. Back when XY came out I basically read any spoiler I came across and I ended up hating that game and I feel like that may be part of the reason why. So far I've managed to remain relatively spoiler free for Fire Emblem Fates, so I'm hoping I can end up doing the same for this game. I'm planning on avoiding everything I come across with this game and I hope I will end up succeeding. I plan on watching the trailers though as they usually don't contain anything extreme in terms of spoilers.

I feel like it's worth a try, but I understand.

Way too early for me, probably I will go media blackout after E3.

I understand. I just think it's exciting going in knowing only 1% or less about the game.

A lot of this is spurred by something that happened to me last weekend. I watched both Inside Out and Big Hero 6 for the first time. Back to back. I had literally never seen anything about either of them before hand. Not a trailer, not a teaser, not a plot summary, not a scenario, not even a picture. I just knew that they were disney/pixar and that people liked them. They were absolutely pheoniminal and became two of my favorite movies of all time instantly, and that whole experience was so overwhelming. It reminded me how great it can feel to go into something totally blind and how much I complain about companies spoiling their content in trailers when I should just be doing myself a favor and avoiding it myself. I can't imagine how much less it would have impacted me if I went in knowing anything.

I also recently bought my friend who doesn't follow gaming and has never played an indie game a copy of Undertale. She fell in love with it, and seeing her unspoiled reactions to it reminded me how great gaming can be. The child like wonder it can bring when you don't know anything about what you're getting into and what you get is monumental.

And then the teaser happened this Thursday. And at first I was frustrated by how brief it was, until I thought about it and realized that for the first time, a developer isn't spoiling their game with teasers and trailers showing too much. No one knows literally anything about this game outside of it being beautiful, large, and open. The universe gave me what I wanted, and I've been complaining about it. Well now I want to take the hint and do something about it. You're right. It's way too early, and that's what excites me. I even wish I could go back to when I didn't know about the long sword, the different shield and shirt, and the Sheikah symbol appearence. That's a little bit of wonder I won't have when I play this game.

After reading this, I'm considering doing this for Zelda. Let's hope I can.

I'll probably start not looking at stuff after the next time we hear about it though.

No, I'm not strong enough. I'm just going to pray Nintendo doesn't Skyward Sword the game while I hungrily inspect every single frame they give me.

I have absolutely zero faith that they won't. They did it with ALBW. I'm sure they'll do it here.
