I think they should take their time.

maybe for Nintendo since they haven't heard of the Internet yet

The problem with the "we'll just fix it with patches" mindset is it's incredibly short sighted. What happens if someone buys a used copy of [insert name of game with huge day 1 patch] 25 years from now? Will these companies be hosting those patches on their servers still? Maybe, but I doubt it.

In case you didn't know, later version of the games often contain those day one patches and more recent patches on disk. also from experiance it's not really hard to find patches for older games. you got a bunch of gaming sites that keep them or sites that are dedicated to that purpose. It's only a problem if you don't really want to make an effort to play your old games 25 years from now.

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

I'm glad to hear that newer printings include the patches--didn't know that--but is there any way to tell which printing is which? I've never seen an imprint like books have that indicate which printing a game is, which might make it more of a headache for a collector.

I know that there are sights that host patches for pc/mac/linux/whatever else, but consoles? Patching on consoles only really started within the last decade, so I don't see how that's an adequate comparison to 25 years from now. Also, downloading patches to a console 25 years from now doesn't seem like a great solution, even if they were easy to find. Current consoles may not even be able to connect to the internet 25 years from now, or if they can, they might not be able to handle it very well, and USB thumb drives might be obsolete. Basically my point is there are too many unknowns about the future when it comes to tech in order to be able to say, "It'll be just fine."

And 0 third parties.... "but we don't need shitty third parties'

What does that even mean?

While I agree with Miyamoto...on a certain level, that doesn't always have to be the case. You're not going to tell me that Nintendo has never rushed out a game because Splatoon and Mario Kart 7 would like to have a word with you. They still ended up being very good games. You've been making them for years, you're past the initial learning curve. Just give me my Zelda U in any state! Anything is better than the silent treatment.

I'm so confused what that has to do with Chapset implying Nintendo has never heard of the internet.

Twilight Princess HD (Tantalus), Pokken Tournament (Bandai Namco), Star Fox: Zero (Platinum Games) and Genei Ibun Roku #FE (Atlus) are made by third party studios. But I doubt making a rational argument was your intention when you entered this thread. And Super Smash Bros. 4 was also made by a third party studio and will get Cloud as DLC, one of the most iconic third party characters in gaming.

In fact, Mario & Sonic at the Rio Olympics is made by Sega and Project Treasure is made by Bandai Namco. The only game on his list that is being made by Nintendo is Zelda U.

I think it was a joke ribbing on the notion that Nintendo is 7-8 years behind the competition when it comes to online connectivity. I personally disagree with him. Nintendo just makes games that are more directed towards single player experiences and party games with friends. No  one wants to play a good party game like Mario Party, Nintendo Land, Smash, or Mariokart online with strangers. These are games meant to played with friends not online competitively like Counter Strike, Halo, or Dota. It's not really one size fits all here.

i dont understand why  people say that, Smash Bros, Pokemon, Luigi's Mansion, Kid Icarus, Mario Kart, Mario Maker, Splatoon and others have solid online modes/features.

I dont think so.
2014 was very big because of Mario Kart 8 (+ its promotion) and Super Smash.
Unless Nintendo still has tonnes of games to show between now and e3 for the Wii U which will be released in 2016.
