So basically if you own a console it's time to upgrade it? Lol might as well just buy a PC.

A good gaming PC generally cost more than $350. Also, some PC ports are pretty much broken early on. Batman is still broken.

Sure but you don't have to pay for online so you can cut the cost over five years and use that for the PC.  All the software is cheaper as well so you will save money that way as well. Sure some PC ports are broken but so are some console ports. I've owned a PS4 and X1 before so I know some games were broken early on. BF4 was unplayable when it was released. Halo MCC? Yea we all know the mess that was. There was massive issues with almost all Bethesada games on the PS3. People who use consoles like to pretend there games are never broken but it's just not true and it's a silly argument. I've owned all the consoles and just recently went back to PC gaming after being gone for like 10 years. I've experienced the ups and down from all three they all have their pros and cons. At the end of the day though I'm a graphics whore and when I saw my friend run Dying light and Dragon Age Inquistion maxed at 1440p I was amazed and instantly sold everything to build a gaming PC.

Elite X1 it is then.

Does the Elite come with a faster hard drive or just a bigger hard drive?

What's the issue here? Something is causing the game to hitch and whatever it may be, it's still taking a hit out of the performance of the game. Just because it's an HDD related issue doesn't mean the performance issues get a pass. Until the game gets patched, the only way to alleviate the problem is to invest extra in an SSD, which is still unacceptable as troubleshooting at the moment.

Indeed, want the game to run smoothly on the X1, buy an SSD instead of the stock HDD installed in the console, would be a first for a console to require hardware updates to run a game smoothly (which otherwise runs, not including obvious stuff like eyetoy/ kinect required for games, since things need to be put in clear black and white to not garner a counter thread here).

You don't necessarily need an ssd, an external drive is already showing better performance. Still a shame on Bethesda and most likely will be patched.

I read this yesterday while I was waiting for Fallout 4 to install on my laptop. My laptop is very powerful and plays fallout 4 at ultra on all settings. There is a lag here or there on the PC version too. Does that mean that when I change from one location to another I am getting 0 FPS? No... It is essentially a load screen.

Either way, the game is awesome and definitely worth getting.

It is near the end of the end....

Both. It comes with a 1tb, solid state hybrid drive.

It does boot up considerbly faster than the 500gb model, especialy with the new dash.

I have the Logitech harmony remote, which has macro settings. It will turn on my tv, soundbar, and xbox one all at once. when the screen comes on it's already on the dash. (full disclosure, this is from the instant on setting, not the complete power down).

Very nice. I expected them to go cheap and just put in a bigger hard drive.

I've been using an SSD with my PS3 for awhile now. It helps with loading times. It does that for all games. I don't know why they mentioned fallout 4 and not all games.

Reading this article it says using a hybrid drive or a 7200rpm drive helps out except for a slight stutter. Also, the 7200 had the slight advantage.
The thing about the hybrid drive is that it has 8gb of ssd, and it needs to be primed to be used correctly. In other words the more you use it, the faster it gets at handling those task.
I have no idea, how long they played it in that configuration. But a hybrid drive is easily a more cost efficent solution than a SSD.
you can pick up a 1tb sshd for $80 on Amazon. I picked one up on eBay for $65. Adorama constantly has sales on hard drives.

That create a new question...

Why the Xbone HDD is slower than PS4 HDD? Both have the same speeds and use the same interface (SATAII)... maybe OS? Drivers? What is the difference?

I don't see other open world games suffering from this on X1, thereforce I would assume Fallout 4 is the issue. However, its evident using an external drive does improve the load time of numerous games.

I assume DF will test it further when patches are released. They did numerous updates on Witcher 3 patches.
