Forums - Nintendo - Why hasn't there been more hype for one of Japan's largest games of the past five years?

Yokai Watch is finally out in the West and no one seems to care, not even gamers who know about it.

Why?

Simple, we aren't elementary kids who are the primary demographic

This.

While I doubt it'll do a pokemon, forums like these live in a bubble that doesn't necessarily echo the outside world.

Too japanese for americans.. I have actually seen alot about it and heard alot about it but I dont think americans care... You think thats bad wait til SMTXFE comes out. Nobody will care at all... I actually highly doubt it even gets released in america.

If it were on mobile it would've been a hit. *ducks*

Why?

because the people need Ni No Kuni 2. (for PS4 or 3DS or something) ^^

the JRPG Ni No Kuni (PS3, Level 5) was awesome and looks so amazing. The best Level 5-Game in the last years.

Yokai Watch is..well.. "okay" - this is no big "level5-game" for the people, i think. And i have no interest.

I actually never got to play Ni No Kuni, but It was one of the few JRPGs that I was really interested in...I'd love a remastered version and a sequel for the PS4.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Maybe because we're not kids anymore?...lol

Because what is popular in Japan does not mean it is popular in the West..

Because it doesn't have anything that makes it stand out outsideof Japan.

This game WILL NOT catch on in the US. I've said it a million times, the cultural barrier is too high and the game is a bit too odd for American audiences.

the US generally takes 3-4 years to catch on to Japanese trends, give it a little longer.

IGN did a piece on it and it is not completely Japanese, some things are changed to make it more westernised.
