I doubt this info. Nintendo always releases a millon sellers list for quarterly reports... I don't think they'd miss the opportunity to say "We have X million sellers on Wii U with the addition of Y and Z"

2.5-3 million seemed to be the consensus back then, I think some even said 4-5 million if I'm not mistaken. Tried to find the thread but the search function in here is shit and my old bookmarks are gone...
