Forums - Microsoft - RUMOR: Halo 5 sold 1.4-1.5 Million in US

Never heard digital sales mentioned so much in a thread.

When we do sales for other games, make sure we stay consistent and keep digital in mind.

How much the other mainline halo did in comparison?

Digital is mentioned in many threads.

Given the popularity of Halo and its online focus, its safe to presume this sold more digital copies than most games.

ODST launched at 1.5 million.

Halo 3, Reach, and 4 launched at 3.2-3.3 million, I believe. Even if we take into account digital sales and give it a generous percentage, it's still a big drop.

According to OP, this was only the first 4 days (month debut) so it still has Friday, Saturday and Sunday. So that is probably around 2 -  3 million overall retail right there + digital. So it isn't a big drop.

Halo 3 was also launched pretty late in its month, though. Also, according to Abdiel, Black Ops 3 really knocked the winds out of Halo 5's sails and that is not even the biggest multiplayer-focused FPS for this holiday season...

Not Halo 4 thats for sure (November 5th) and Halo 3 may of released towards the end of the month, but it still had a few day advantages as well as no competition. Blackops 3 always has been competition, but Halo 5 is still selling like crazy. Also, what fps mutliplayer focus is bigger than Halo 5 or Blacks ops 3?

So assuming 30% of digital sales on 1.5m, that equal to 1.95m right? that's a huge decline compare to other halo games.

You don't really have any evidence that suggests Halo 5 is still "selling like crazy", especially when someone who has access to sales numbers of national Best Buy districts has said otherwise. And to answer your question, I'll give you a hint: light sabers.

How is battlefront bigger? This is the first game in the series to come out in a long time. Also, Halo 5 is still selling very well just by the numbers we've seen right now (biggest Halo Launch in history). COD:AW had the same amount of sales in its first week for Xbox according to a user and we all know COD sells very well. Sorry, but no exclusive game on playstation or nintendo can match up to what Halo is sale wise.
