Forums - Microsoft - RUMOR: Halo 5 sold 1.4-1.5 Million in US

Some corrections from previous posts...

- It is retail only NPD peliminary data... ends os Saturday Oct 31th.
- 5 days of Halo 5 tracking.
- No bundles included.
- Halo 2, Halo 3, Reach and Halo 4 all opened ~3.3m first NPD.

My opinion... expected it was clear the game will perform bad on Xbone and confirmed after UK data released.

After Forza and Halo... Gears is the next to saw low sales.

- Or digital sales these are what I'd like to see. I know you wrote retail only

So with bundles, digital and extra 2 days it should be around 3 million first week. Seems good to me.

For Halo 2 it's almost a month of tracking, for Halo Reach its, maybe two weeks? It could be a good idea to mention that in you post since Halo 5 only has a few days of tracking, no digital and maybe not even bundles. Halo 3 is the only relevant measure and it shows how strong it was.

lol not even close.

There is no extra 2 days because first week is 5 days... even so 80% of the sales are day 1.

The numbers of previous Halos (~3.3m in NPD didn't include bundles too)... I was expecting 300k Halo Bundles in US but it was not sold out so I'm gessing the number will be lower.

Digital sales are not that big... it is at the best case 20% of the sales.

That make any difference at all? 80% of the same are day 1 after that is just few numbers added.
All numbers are not including bundles... it is NPD and bundles are not tracked... that is the case for Halo 2, 3, Reach, 4 and 5 (rumor in this case).
Digital is not these 90% that will make up the difference lol people are kidding themselves.

Microsoft also said in their PR statement that Halo 5 was the best selling digital game on Xbox One. So 10-20% does not sound reasonable.

But 20% of 1.5 million, as USA only, is a lot and 20% of global is even more. According to VGC the best global week 1 for Xb one is CoD AW at 1.7 million. So if AW did 20% of 1.7 million week 1, and Halo 5 has global physcial sales of 2.1 million week 1 then 20% of 2.1 million > 20% of 1.7 million, hence biggest digital game on Xb one. I'm sure MS doesn't mean biggest digital LTD, just biggest digital opening week / launch period.

Looking at Amazon, the digital version of Halo 5 sold a really good amount for October. More than I've seen a digital console game for the monthly. And apparently this number isn't even counting bundle sales. There's more factors at play here these days.

This. This makes sense to me. You have to consider all bundles all special editions all digital versions hardware bundles and more.

ya u don't know that. Hate when people state opinion as facts. Anyway 20% digital would bring the game to 2.75 million fw worldwide. 2.75 million on 15 million consoles sounds kick ass to me. The only game that doesn't compare well to is halo 3, and that game was a beast that had a marketing budget that was likely 3-5 times the size of guardians.

Halo MCC will sell 5+ million copies(including digital)

halo 5 will sell 10 million copies(including digital)

x1 will pass ps4 in USA, and UK.

2.75m for Halo WW is terrible... it is Halo in a big declive.

BTW the digital data come from companies quarters results... let's me show you the facts.

Witcher 3: 25% of total sales http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1116442 (includes PC that are almost 100% digital)
Ubisoft in 2014 on PS4/XB1: 10% http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=852745
EA in 2014 on PS4/XB1: 10-15% http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=860335
EA 2015 with Battlefield Hardline PS4/XB1 (similar game to Halo): 20% http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1041340 (this includes 20% of PC sales that are almot all digital)

Thanks Nirolak for the data.

Destiny is a online only game and the digital sales are not bigger than 20% too.

I want to see hoe bad the numbers declined now that COD and Fallout 4 are out. Not a single person on my friends list is playing it anymore
