Forums - Sony - PSVR will be priced so Sony doesn't make any profit. What are your price predictions now?

Still far to much for a periferal. Will sell Vita levels if lucky, until price gets around $200-$150.

Looks like Sony found a way to burn up all the profit from the success of the PS4 and thusly maintain their financial issues. Nobody but diehards is going to buy this at $300 and up.

You place a joypad on the same level as a VR headset? That's a new one.

My guess is 350-400 €. A reasonable price for technology that comes with a phalanx of innovation.

Of course that in the end depends on the games that the Vr recives and also its price, but even if the price was 200 or even 150, I still would be more tempted to get a XboxOne, first because I want to play its exclusives which look awesome(such as Halo, Sunset Overdrive, Gears of War, its exclusive indies, and specially Scalebound(my god, Scalebound looks beyond epic), and many more) and second because of every VR game that i saw until now, none looks truly amazing. They seem like experiences that can be truly awesome for half a hour or one hour, but after that, I would just return to play regulary on my ps4(Maybe I have this opinion because I never tried VR, so this is subject to change). But I sincerely prefer acess to Microsoft first party titles than VR.For this gen at least

True, it's a toss up between a sure thing and something new that could very well not live up to expectations, especially not after waiting for it for 20 years. Although I don't think we have to worry too much about this 1996 '''study''' (that needs some extra quatation marks)

I'm hopeful and excited to finally get to try it. If it's not all that great, well those exclusives and the xb1 will still be coming down in price anyway.

I like to keep things new. ;)

Point is, it i not a stand alone device, so it is a peripheral.

Hnnno. That was not the point. Your point was, peripherals are supposed to cost not more than a 20.- € PC mouse (for example). I paid 300.- € for my 24" TFT LCD and 1500.- € for the 55" plasma. According to you i paid way too much for those.

Ohhhh the old witch hunts on videogames.Thank god we are pass that.(Or is not as bad as before)

But its not based on fiction.I remember some years ago that the oculus rift was having problems with the VR, which were causing diziness while playing with it for longer than 30 minutes or so.But if im not mistaken, this problem was fixed, so we wont have to worry about being dizzy for the rest of our lives lol

But yeah, ill wait and see how the VR performs when it launches. But I have alot of games to play, and not alot of money left, so I dont think I can sustain yet another exgtra expense. But yeah, the future looks exciting

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

I think Sony would be hugely satisfied with Vita level lifetime sales though... I mean, 12-15 million for the first outing at this sort of peripheral, being sold at breakeven would be a massive success imo.

I'm going to guess that this will be PS4 only. You might be able to get it to work on PC but probably nothing will support it.

Why? Crossplatform (PS4+PC) dev options help make games more viable for devs, and the API can be basically the same on both sides.
Sony said they want maximum playerbase, and leveraging PC market which is proportionately least put off by price, does just that.

It's a nascent market  on PC side, so now is the time to grab market share there and establish Sony's VR platform across both PC/PS4.

And it doesn't cost anything really.

When can I preorder!?!
