They said they made a profit after one game and a controller sold at launch (or maybe it was just one game?). PS4 hardware was profitable from may 2014-ish.

The PS3 had a blu-ray player (which were very expensive at the time) and the expenisve new tech named the CELL processor.

Well, guess the information I got was wrong, haha.

It really doesnt matter. No one is buying a console without a game so they were technically making profit anyways.

What Teeqoz says is right about the PS3. It just had pretty crazy tech in it for its time. It just didnt sell fast enough to be commerically viable. Ultimately Sony were able to make some pretty decent out of a bad situation.

Honestly, with the price they were asking for, I don't think it was going to sell fast at all. o:

$300 is probably my limit. I wonder how much it will cost to make. I mean they've been experimenting with VR for a long time and if they can chuck out PS4's with a third party game for $350, it seems reasonable that the PSVR could be sold under $300. How much tech do they need? The PS4 will probably be doing all the grunt work so the PSVR might not need as much electronics. Not a tech guy but that's my trail of thought!

Well, I personally would rather a million times buy a XBox One with that price, which will come bundled with one game or two, than buy the PSVR.But I sure hope it has it degree of success.VR is potentially a great tech for new gaming experience.I just dont see it working now(in this gen i mean)

Why though, if you already have a ps4? You get access to a few more exclusives with XBox One yet VR allows some very different gaming experiences. Personally I already have a big backlog this gen. Atm VR looks more exciting to me than for example Quantum break.

It depends a bit on how much that frame doubling unit costs to make. I'm still thinking 299,- for the headset without camera.

$450 - Includes PSVR, 1- Camera, 1 - Move controller, and Sampler of VR games. 5 tech demos, 1 short game

$400 - PSVR, Camera

$350 - PSVR

My prediction is similar, but I would knock $50 off each bundle, add a second move controller to the top bundle, and each one will come with at least The Playroom VR

Why would you need 2 move controllers if it only has 1 PSVR unit? This is a single serve system.

I hope sony hasn't put too many eggs into that vr basket, for their sake.

Uuhhh...because each move controller acts as one hand in every game that we'be seen use them so far.

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Of course that in the end depends on the games that the Vr recives and also its price, but even if the price was 200 or even 150, I still would be more tempted to get a XboxOne, first because I want to play its exclusives which look awesome(such as Halo, Sunset Overdrive, Gears of War, its exclusive indies, and specially Scalebound(my god, Scalebound looks beyond epic), and many more) and second because of every VR game that i saw until now, none looks truly amazing. They seem like experiences that can be truly awesome for half a hour or one hour, but after that, I would just return to play regulary on my ps4(Maybe I have this opinion because I never tried VR, so this is subject to change). But I sincerely prefer acess to Microsoft first party titles than VR.For this gen at least

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

They just need to make room in every electro market to showcase what you can do, so to get people buying it even if they don't have any idea what it is or people who aren't interested in gaming

I guess i should have clairifeid that by 1 controller, I meant 1 pair then. I thought you meant 2 sets of move controllers. simple miscommunication.

i expect it to be between 350 to 400 as it comes with an external processing unit. It will be miracle if sony manages to sell at $299

The PS4 released for $400. PSVR surely carrying less tech than the PS4.

and that is because PS4/Psvita didnt have that big of an R&D cost. compared to PS3 and now PSVR, they used off the shelf products. I just cant see sony producing VR Head set and a Processing Unit at under 300. Correct me if i am wrong, even sony produces small oled display panels right? if this is the case then there are chances it could be priced less.

The R&D costs are being absorbed now.  Looking at their last financial report they are generating significant profits even while absorbing those costs.

I'm guessing it will be priced between $249-$299.
