Forums - Gaming - Personal Opinion: I am glad America is taking over the gaming industry again.

To be honest i really hate patriotism no matter which country it comes from. All it comes down to is "I'm better than you because i was born here and you were born over there". Patriotism has always been a tool used by goverments, Emperors and monarchies to coerce and fool it's people into war. The people think that they are fighting for their country when all they are actually fighting and dying for is the interests of a few men at the top that hold power.

Ever heard the famous quote from DR Samuel Johnson: " Patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel".

To each his own, I guess.

I just don't like seeing people look out for themselves (and their families, though I'm also seeing the family rot away right before my very eyes), but also the community and the nation. It is not wrong to fight to be treated fairly by other nations and nationalities, and it is not wrong to be proud of your fellow men and their achievements.

And, well, we simply aren't the same. I certainly wouldn't want to live under Sharia Law, and a Muslim would most likely refuse to live in the Hindu Caste System, and a Hindu would probably refuse to live in Imperial China, and a Chinese bureaucrat wouldn't get by in a Jewish state...you get my point.

I WON A BET AGAINST AZUREN! WOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Since when was America taking over?

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

As a patriotic DEUTSCHER I also just play just DEUTSCHE games and that's perfect. I can't keep up with all those releases and let's not forget that the highest rated game this year with a metacritic of 98 comes from DEUTSCHLAND and it's the "Oktoberfest Simulator Deluxe".

What? Since when are they taking over the gaming industry again? lol

I am a patriotic yankee doody doo as some of you may know. However, I just have to say from 6th generation to 7th/8th generation I am glad America took over the gaming industry. Before (6th generation) the Japanese developers/publishers ruled everything pretty much, but that is not the case anymore. America is rising and it will continue. More money, more jobs and better life style for all of us. GOD BLESS AMERICA.

Let's look at that shall we.

GTAV - Rockstar North (Scotland, UK)
Bloodborne - From software (Japan)
MGSV - Kojima Productions / Konami (Japan)
Need for Speed 2015 - Ghost Games (Sweden, UK, Romania)
Battlefield 4- Dice (Sweden)
Star Wars Battlefront - Dice (Sweden)
Assassin's Creed Syndicate - Ubisoft Quebec (Canada)
Assassin's Creed Unity - Ubisoft Montreal (Canada)
Assassin's Creed Rogue - Ubisoft Sofia (France)
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag - Ubisoft Montreal (Canada)
Watch Dogs
 - Ubisoft Montreal (Canada)
No Mans Sky - Hello Games (UK)
Just Cause 3 - Avalanche Studios (Sweden)
Far Cry 4
- Ubisoft Montreal (Canada)
Splatoon - Nintendo (Japan)
Xenoblade Chronicles X - Monolith (Japan)
Hitman (2016) - IO Interactive (Denmark)
Quantum Break - Remedy (Finland)

Most of the biggest, and most anticipated games this generation came from Canada, Europe and Japan.

Want to know where the biggest dissapointments this gen came from, Destiny, Daylight, Battlefield hardline, etc? ;)

Wow... RIP OP.

But yeah I was going to say, exactly what games is he talking about being developed in America....

American developed games are really dominant when it comes to the the xbox one. They are less dominant on the playstation systems and non existant on nintendo systems. Here are the top 10 games for the 8th gen systems, American developed games are in bold.

Personal Opinion: I am glad I'm not an America douche bag who takes pride in a certain region taking over the gaming industry again... if that were really the case.

Diversity is one of the most important things that keeps this world alive. Languages, cultures, sensibilities, politics... And, of course, this extends to media. So, no, lack of diversity is never a good thing.

I'll never understand blind patriotism. There are a lot of great things coming for a wide variety of countries, people sticking only to their culture is missing all this world has to offer. But, hey, to each his own I guess.

I am as patriotic as they come and more tech jobs in America is great.

I will say it's more of a fact that my taste has changed as opposed to being patriotic. When I was a kid I only played JP games. Mario, MK, FF, RE, Onimusha, DQ, MGS, etc etc etc with the occasional Lucas Arts game and Crash game here and there. Fair to say that - at that time - my favorite developers probably were Nintendo, Square/SE, Capcom, Konami.

Nowadays though, I gotta say my taste is almost 100% western (which includes EU developed games). Favorite games last generation were Uncharted 2, TLOU, Portal, L4D1+2, GTAV, RDR, Killzone 2. My favorite developers today are Naughty Dog, Valve, R*, and the like. I'm really looking forward to Uncharted 4 and Horizon.

I think JP developers have not kept up with western developers.

They are both amazing and you say that you're patriotic?
