It's always a nice feature to have but I think Aaron forgets that people buy new systems to play new games

I still regularly play on my PS3. But they might have a problem only having part BC. It's no trouble for me to just keep my PS3 to play all my PS3 games, the question is will people see it as selling point if they still have to keep their 360 to play all their games.

I still play heavily on my PS3 as well, and I would've really love my PS4 to have BC.  But if the PS4 hardly have any new games worth playing then I wouldn't really see the point in buying a PS4 if i'd just mainly use it to play PS3 games.

I remember PS3 BC was a talked like it was a huge thing but after Sony took out BC from the PS3 we all realized it wasn't that big of a deal and that people were buying PS3 for PS3 games, not for BC.

The Wii U has BC (it even had BC controllers) but look at the situation it's in.  BC is an amazing feature and respect to MS and Nintendo for having it, but in the end it all comes down to the new games for the new system; It's without a doubt the biggest selling point that overshadows any other selling point such as BC.

This is probably as Sony 2008, we're going to get this generation. Had they focused on BC instead of Kinect they'd probably be in a much better place right now in terms of market share. Better late then never.

The worst thing about the PS3 was the lack of cross gen games releasing well up to and past the PS4 start. Namely Japanese games. KH 1.5 and 2.5 for example, those are literally the only reasons I still have a  PS3. It's annoying, and BC does add utility but imo its not a purchasing reason alone.

Ok, this marketing guy(Aaron Greenberg) has no idea... "We're going to be the only next-gen console delivering backwards compatibility."

Here take my Wii U console & Super Mario Galaxy 2 physical disc version.

P.S: Coming from Xbox One owner.

Well its a good thing there are other good reasons to buy a X1. You know... it has a long list of notable games already. A few coming this month.

BC is just another great thing about X1. Tons of value in that.

Nice to see a lot more games get backwards compatibility!

Disappointing that the Wii U isn't recognized by some as a 8th gen system though

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

I feel like MS has been marketing heavily on backwards compatibility to compensate for their lack of XB1 games compared to how much support and games the PS4 is getting.

And what a douche for ignoring Wii U.

Well Sony platforms always had an edge in support due to Japan. Its more of the same this gen. The most successful PS4 games that aren't 1st party are also on X1. Hence, support is fine on the X1 for the western markets.

MS is pushing BC because it appeal to a core audience and its gonna motivate a lot of 360 users to get a X1. Frankly, there wouldn't be so much talk about it if consumers weren't so excited about it.

The world is ignoring WIi U. This is why Nintendo is already discussing its next platform.

I wanna see the Mass Effect Trilogy on there, but I don't think they've figured out a way to add backwards compatability for games with multiple discs.

Uh...

Exactly...don't they realize its current gen already?
