Forums - Gaming - FF XIII PS3 only or possibly multiplatform?

Both the Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii are dominating over in Japan. The PS3 is way behind over there.

If by your estimate, it's only going to sell 7 million, releasing it a year later on other consoles is not going to yield 13 million more.

And no FF games has released on more then one console (FFXI aside).

 FFVII came out on PC.

I think that it all depends on how well it sells. If it fails to sell to the number Square thinks it should then just maybe it could be ported but honestly I don't think Sony will let it happen. Does Sony own a part in Square? If so definitely not.

If doesn't sell well on Ps3 where are they gonna port it where it will? 360?PC? No way... I'll say it too: Noobie thread.

So did FFVIII. What's your point?

But to restate, I do believe that FFXIII will stay exclusive.  Sony will pay whatever they have too, because FFXIII is the only thing left to move the PS3 in Japan (perhaps GT5) short of the Wii reaching saturation.

The only thing stopping the PS3 at the moment is price. It's a product everyone wants, it's just priced over what most people are willing to pay.

FFXIII will be exclusive though. It would cost to much to make it otherwise.

I was just clarifying that FF games (even the ones known to be Sony-based) haven't always been completely restricted to the Playstation brand.

Were the first half dozen Final Fantasy games on Nintendo consoles?

I don't think FFVII came out for the PC, FFVIII did though, so I stand corrected.

Price drops in Japan are having even less of an effect on PS3 sales than they do in other regions, and it's already far cheaper there than anywhere else.

I think it is safe to say the "price is the only thing stopping the PS3 in Japan" ship has sailed.....
