Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo CEO Tatsumi Kimishima says Nintendo has more unannounced titles coming this year for Wii U and 3DS

Wouldn't Metroid Prime Federation Force count as a game from the Metroid franchise? It's a spinoff, yes, but most of the characters on the picture have appeared only on spinoffs recently.

It's a 3DS title, and doesn't star Samus.

As I pointed out, the image is curious for some notable reasons, one of which is the absence of both Miis and Pikachu. Why are they missing? You could argue that Pikachu is missing because Pokemon isn't 100% owned by Nintendo... but that doesn't explain Miis. And if it's meant to be "iconic", then I'm absolutely certain that Wario would rate higher than Pikmin, and random-new-Animal-Crossing-character wouldn't get in ahead of Villager.

The only thing that unifies the characters in the image but doesn't match other obvious possible characters is that they're major characters in recent or upcoming Wii U titles... with the exception of Samus (based on current information).

And from the design of the character, it's gonna be Other M 2!

I don't think, generally, the designs are meant to indicate anything specific - rather, I think they used the most recently-made promotional artwork for each franchise. So Twilight Princess HD, releasing in the next couple of months, will have promotional artwork ready to go, and TP Link appears. But Metroid isn't quite ready to be promoted, so they went for the pre-existing art, and the most recent Metroid title was Other M.

But if Metroid is in the works, this points to it most likely being Other M. Just as the Link model points to Twilight Princess HD.

They're not going to make new promotional artwork until they're ready to start promoting the game.

And who says they're not, or that the Link model is for Twilight Princess and they are ready to start promoting it? All pure speculation.

I don't see it happening until 2017..

2017 is better than never... I really hope they haven't given up on a traditional console PM game.

Intelligent Systems have been pretty quiet on the console side, they have to be working on something.

The entire situation is speculation. I'm drawing the most logical conclusion from the situation. The Link model isn't an old Twilight Princess model - it's an emulation of old artwork in the form of a fully 3D model. That sounds like new promotional artwork, to me. Samus's model, on the other hand, is identical to one used for Metroid Other M - as in, completely identical. They aren't going to use an Other M piece of artwork for Other M 2, if Other M 2 ever happens. So it would have to be Other M HD, or something... but do you honestly think they're going to spend time remaking Other M, given its relative performance? And even if they were, there would be a higher-res model.

Granted it's one of the lowest selling metroids, it's still over a million seller, and isn't that far below the others. Could very well be the best selling with a re-release. And all those characters look low res, it was a low res pic.

I thought Nintendo said a few weeks ago that they would have a lot of great announcements or something over a two week period. It's past that time and does anybody know what we got over that period?

They released Codename STEAM in March, Stretchmo in May and Fire Emblem in July and are assisting with SMTxFE which comes out in December, they have been pretty busy this year and I doubt they have anything else releasing soon, 2017 is probably the earliest we get a new project from them.
