The characters for SRT OG are very memorable. it brought a tear to my eye when one of the captains died >.<

I agree. It was really sad.

I loved the OG games myself. Pretty much every member of the ATX team was awesome (the SRX team was kind of lame by comparison to their awesomeness). Excellen was my favorite character though, with Sanger, Masaki, Kyosuke, and Lamia in a tie for second.

Fire Emblem is awesome, if you've never played it, kill yourself, then revive, and go buy one, play it then praise the feet of those who supported it with their purchases so that you would get the lucky chance to grace its amazing story with your tard fingers.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I kinda hated doing SRX missions since their bots were kinda lame compared to the ATX bots. Especially when Kyosuke got the Alteisen Reise, bullet and kashua with that ancient bot which i forgot the name.

that was really the saddest part and moving part for me when captain-whats his-name died (lol i forgot) played it like 2 years ago :D)

PS: Thanks WoW ^_^ been on the forums for quite a while now not really the poster type, just reading through. Just had to post when SRW got brought up, Easily my most favorite game series

Ditto for pretty much all of that.  I cried when he died (though I'm a sucker for that stuff).  It really is nice to see SRW fans around.  It's a great series that I truly wish would come out of Japan more often.

I'd go with the Path of Radiance first Soriku... 3 reasons.

1) It's Gamecube, bet you can find it cheap and convince your parents to get you a second game or get this one sooner. Maybe even be able to get it with Brawl because it's so cheap.

2) It's easier. So you'll get used to it right away. If it's too hard you can even put it on easy which will make things REALLY easy to get then hang of and work your way up as you replay it on normal.

3) Volke rules.

Just chiming in here to agree with Kasz216. If you choose to purchase one of the console Fire Emblem games, definitely get the Gamecube version (Path of Radiance) first. It's a much better introduction to the series, and more forgiving for newcomers. The Wii version (Radiant Dawn) assumes that you already know the battle system, throws you into an extremely difficult first chapter, and will very likely frustrate you if it's your first game. Try the older, cheaper game first!

Oh I love the SRW story too... but the battle system is about as solid a battle system for a SRPG as I've ever seen.

You miss out when you import... but if you burn through SRPGs like me to where you are looking anywhere for the new one to come out... they're great tide me overs.

Plus most of the missions in the Japanese only versions closely resemble episodes of said anime to the point of where if you've seen in before you likely know what's going on... except when the aliens show up anyway.

Yeah, I think I even cried when the Captain died. That was a pretty bad ass way to go and a great story way to do it.

Soriku,

I'm a little late to the conversation and WoW already explained it perfectly, but you really should try Radiant Dawn (and preferably Path of Radiance before it). I'm halfway through it now and it's amazing.

The stories of these 2 FE's are very good. I like the GB FE's as well, but less.

What it comes down to is that the gameplay takes part on the battlefields, where you move each character in turn to perform an action (attack/heal/use item etc.).
After that the enemy does the same.

Big feature is that once a character dies he/she is gone forever, limiting the story and character development. (So normally you restart after someone dies).

After the battles the game consists of dialogues, story telling movies and the menu.
The menu is really extensive. You can watch extra dialogues that usually give you extra items or gain you party members, give skills and experience to characters and shop.

There are an enormous amount of weapons in the game, each with their own benefits. Some weapons for example are weaker but have higher chance of making a critical hit, others trigger 4x attack etc.

The main attraction for me is in the very deep strategy: In most battles you have a few characters that are very strong and can take most enemies out without any sweat. The problem is that these characters don't gain a lot of experience anymore, while the weaker units need it. It's a thin balance between attacking with your weaker units without endangering them. In the first part of RD there are units that die if attacked only once.

Sorry for the lots of double info, but I like this game (and series) so much that I wanted to share it anyway.

BTW: Volke rules.

Ah OK, I'm not there yet. I've almost finished part 2, so will continue to 3 tonight.

You were right about the difficulty level, part 2 was way easier.

Let's say Black Night rules! (I couldn't resist killing some guys with him)

That is a freaking HUGE spoiler to anyone that has not played Radiant Dawn...  Thou shalt not discuss the Burger King in this thread.  ^_^
