Sucks, those are some pretty bad scores. Seeing it in the 60s definitely has me prepared to keep my expectations in check. Famitsu pretty much scored it to be on par with the series, but getting below 70s (which is where the rest of the series hits) is a little alarming. Oh well, there are still several more reviews it will get, and it definitely doesn't make me any less excited. I seen several playthroughs of the first levels and can't wait to experience it myself.

I really loved Crystal Bearers which got around the same score.

The Destructoid review (4/10) is from a big fan of the series who asked to do the review for that reason. None of his complaints had anything to do with what you're talking about. I can't wait to play this game, a 68 is a pretty good score. I've played games that have scored worst(X-Blades, Duke Nukem Forever, Castlevania Judgement, etc...) and I liked most of them.
