Forums - Microsoft - Are the people making the most noise about halos splitscreen removel even Halo fans??

I wouldn't say I'm a Halo superfan but every Halo I've played, I played split screen co-op for most of not all of my first play through. It was sometimes quite jarring his much better the single player mode looked when I went back and played solo.

My daughter isn't a Halo fan anymore so I guess I'll be playing Halo V on my own, split screen or not.

I was playing the first Halo back in 2002 over the internet using XBL Connect on my PC. I logged thousands of games playing Halo 2. I did the same for Halo 3. I read ALL the fan sites, spent HOURS on Bungie.net, looking at stats, uploading movies. I beat every Halo on legendary... alone. I can safely say there was no bigger Halo fan than me.

But I'm not buying this game, in part, because there is no split screen. The story will suck imo, but if it had split screen, I'd still get it so I could play online with my GF. Playing online buy myself? I hate it. Team killing, idiots doing whatever they want... without another player sitting on the couch with me, is futile and frustrating and I don't like it. Ever since Halo 2, I have ONLY played the game with other people split screen. It's just what I have grown to love. The fact that this game won't let me do it anymore has killed the franchise completely for me.

Again, I suppose if the story wasn't going to suck (my opinion), I'd still rent it to play that portion of the game. But since they ruined that for me too, I'm just out.

I think yes halo fans are disappointed for the most part about it, but I feel like 2/3 people complaining about it don't play halo and probably never Owned a Xbox.

This is my opinion on it as well.

I highly doubt that 2/3 of the people complaining have NEVER owned an Xbox. That's absurd.

I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.

Pretty ridiculous to think otherwise.

I've never played Halo, so I only have second hand knowledge but some of the streamers I follow were severely dissapointed. For them Halo splitscreen was THE reason to play Halo and they absolutely loved it. They said they didn't give a shit about the story from Halo 2 on out, so for them it was all about the mad fun of local multiplayer.
Consequently they wont stream it when it comes out. :/

Well. Some Halo fans must be annoyed by it.
Upset? Not a lot. As far I'm concerned or my friends, we do not care at all as we are usually playing on multiple console/TVs (even in lan) or over Xbox Live.

Now, I saw several people who are Playstation Four enthusiasts (on VGC at least) complaining and making a huge deal of it and then pretending that they see only "Halo fans" complaining :) It is just normal tho. Same would go the other way.

At the end, this is really not a big deal for Halo fans even if some of them are disapointed for good reason if they were using it. Halo 5 is going to be awesome and maybe the best in the serie.

It's not only with Halo these days that are missing split screen, but so many other FPS'. It's sad.

Am I a Halo 'fan'? I don't know if I fit the bill but I have played every main line Halo game since the first and one of the first things that I've done after each purchase is finish the coop campaign on Legendary with my good mate.

Will this affect my decision to purchase the game. You betcha.

I'm a true Halon fan, the Master Chef is one of my most favorite characters of all time, and i'm very upset about the of the removel of the thing this thread is about!

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

- George Orwell, ‘1984’

While I do think some non-fans have latched on to (and possibly exacerbated) the split-screen controversy, I also think some real fans, myself included, will miss it. Split-screen multiplayer has long been a part of Halo, for the better.
