Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo should enter an exclusive deal with Netflix.

I doubt moving their IP into TV shows would help at all. Mostly because churning out a bunch of TV shows based on Nintendo IP would end up being a mixed bag qualitatively.

If Nintendo wants to get back to gaming dominance then they need to make games and gaming systems that are compelling to gamers outside of their core fanbase. They don't need to go down a side track of trying to turn game IP into TV IP.

Nintendo would probably get really butthurt knowing people could watch the latest episodes of the Splatoon animated series on their PS4. Wouldn't be the first time Nintendo had irrational fears.

I'm all for this, and if they were to partner with anyone for TV shows, it probably would be Netflix anyway.

bet: lost

You think they never tried making a Mario tv show in 30 years because they didn't have a Netflix contract? It's more likely they don't wanna bother trying it, and rightfully so. TVs exists for longer than Mario.

No. It's common knowledge that they didn't do it before because they simply were not interested. Now that they are, Netflix is the best platform to do it on for them.

Well they've said they're going to do the exact opposite of what you just said. They've stated that they're looking at TV and movies for their franchises now. They've been forward with that. A TV presence takes nothing away from their franchises, there's no reason to believe each TV show would be a "mixed bag of quality." They could all be exellent, especially with Netflix at the helm.

I'm pretty sure we're gonna get a Netflix Zelda show announced in the next four months, with a mid 2016 season 1 release, to help pad 2016 and hide the fact that they're quietly hiding Zelda U until the end of the year at the very least. So you're probably right here even if you're just theorizing

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

Now that Guardians of galaxy is out - a star fox movie can be perfect.

Zelda/Link is always in demand they shoudl do a show with it and a game based on eth show or 2 games or a chapters game.

Mario on it's own not really - but Kid Icarus yes - and now Splatoon cartons.

Switch!!!

The issue being that Netflix would need to agree as well.

They could very easily just say no if Nintendo were to approach them.

But I agree. Nintendo need to be more open with their IP's. I mean cross media here of course.

Why do you think they're going mobile?

They would probably just hurt their franchises. TV is not the right place for Mario and Zelda. They are getting awareness now they're investing in mobile, that's the way to go. Pokémon GO is a huge start. And PC. I think they should make a deal with Steam to distribute a Wii U/PC cross-platform competitive game based on some Nintendo IP and some Valve game, like Dota 2.

While Mario and Zelda, don't really lend themselves to serial story telling, I think some of Nintendo's more recent hits, Kid Icarus, Splatoon and the recent Fire Emblem games could easily prove popular in some circles as anime series due to their designs alone.

Nothing like expanding your audience through TV show content by limiting it only to people that are already heavily invested in your platform.

Wait a minute?

The reason Nintendo are opening up to mobile is because there trying to reach more customers, last thing they need to do is invest in TV shows only for Wii U customers, let alone the tiny userbase that are both Wii U and Netflix customers. .

Edit: Your idea is literally the worst thing Nintendo could do in the TV space.
