Just started a Genocide run now...

A Genocide run?!
Dude, I... When I think that I must kill Toriel, Sans, and... See the entire world becoming empty... I just can't do it.

I just killed Toriel, and believe me, it wasn't easy...

Because this is never going to happen, I am prepared to gift this game to you and anyone else in this thread that plans to "wait for a sale". (It's £7) |
I'll take it!

That's what's interesting about video games isn't it? We've probably "killed" many digital soldiers before, but if the game presents the player with the choice of either sparing or killing certain developed characters, and deciding that could have actual narrative consequences it becomes much more difficult.
Of course Undertale wasn't the first game to that.

I am halfway through the game and absolutely adoring it.
I strongly recommend that everyone plays it.
It might beat out Bloodborne for my game of the year.
I've been watching it on let's play. It's so amazing.
Wish more games like this were made.

How could you kill Goat Mom of all monsters ;A;
Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

It does play with player's expectations and some very known gaming convensions. It keeps itself interresting by shifting it's tone. I know I called it charming before, but it actually has a very disturbing layer. Speaking of disturbing things. I'll start my genocidal run today. |
You can't get more disturbing than doing that run... : X I dunno if I can do it myself...
Compared to other games, it's a little light on the unsettling and creepy, but it lingers there, very subtly.

I agree!
The juaxtapostion between the light hearted elements of the game and the subtle dark undertones makes the latter much more effective.
